I believe that the actors are union and most likely make scale. I'm not familiar with SAG rates in the US (they probably have a website where you can look up rates), but union performers in Canada generally make about $600 Cdn (or about $475 US) per 8 hour day. Puppeteers doing manipulation and...
Search under web. I'm not sure if it works from the International sites like google.ca so be sure you're searching from the main Google site.
If it's still not working click here.
Comics guru Scott McCloud has just published his new online comic "The Right Number" on his website scottmccloud.com. It's available for just 25 cents over the Internet and I can't wait to read it. Comic Book Resources has published a short article about it here.
For those of you not familiar...
Hopefully this will stay up for awhile.....for a good laugh go to Google, enter the phrase "Weapons of Mass Destruction" and click on the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button. Be sure to read carefully the page that loads.
Trust me, it's worth it. ;)
By "they" I wasn't referring to Parker and Stone, but you're right and thanks for clarifying that. It's Gerry Anderson himself doing those other projects. Gerry declined to be involved with the Thunderbirds movie though.
They are also updating a lot of the other "Supermariation" shows as 3-D animated projects. They've dubbed the process "SuperHyperMariation" or something like that.
IF he/she used the higher-end shag fur it could easily cost $60+ per meter/yard. Also, if he used Scott Foam (or something similar) rather than the cheap polyfoam or reticulated foam I could see the cost being a few hundred but Bork Bork is right, $500 is a stretch.
I think the texture of the fur is a little off what these for Elmo these days (it's a little lower quality) but it's a very, very good likeness. I doubt anyone will get to own it though, ebay usually de-lists items like this once they are discovered.
Again, I wasn't bashing but making a point about the negative impact piracy has on artists, mostly smaller independent ones. This is a BIG issue these days and a big problem. And it hurts the little guys the most. If Madonna looses thousands of dollars because of piracy it's not really a big...
I watched Sesame as a kid and probably the Muppet Show too, but wasn't really in to puppetry until I saw an exhibit at a Museum in Toronto ("The Art of the Muppets") around the time I was five or six. There were most of the Muppets on display and because Fraggle Rock was being taped here...
There's also alot of Asian cultures that teach children simple, effective exercises early in life to try and prevent the onset of problems like these. They are also very commonly done in groups at factories where hand/eye coordination is valued. Books on the subject are probably at the library...
A short cut for moving eyes that sometimes works is to gut an old Boglin puppet. These were toys that were a fad for awhile in the late 80s/early 90s that had a great built-in eye mech. You can sometimes find them cheap on ebay. Just make sure you get the larger puppets - the smaller ones don't...
I have yet to come across a very good "how to" on puppet eye mechs. There are a lot of books and videos on animatronics and a few dealing with Vent Doll construction but not much that is puppet-specifc.
The best source of information around is Michael Brose's Figure Making Can Be Fun! It...
The only thing to watch with paint and plastic is that a lot of paints won't adhere properly to plastic unless you sand it first. Of course if you sand the spoon and then painted it using Tztz's method the scratching on the surface of the plastic from the sanding will show.
What type of paint...
Hand sewing is actually very easy. You can start with simple stitches. There are probably lots of books on the subject in any good library. There are probably lots of web sites too, but I am to lazy to check for URLs at the moment.... ;)
Like I said, I'm not knocking the folks at One Way...
Don't misunderstand, my issue wasn't that you were selling the tapes. That's perfectly legal and certainly your right. It's not even a problem that you made one copy for your personal use (that's legal under US law, but not in most other countries). My problem is that you made an copy for...

:sympathy: (sighs) Here we go with the piracy debate again.....I was going to complain about this post to Grey Seal, but then I thought better of it and decided to settle for a mild scolding instead.
OK, this is really wrong for a couple of reasons, namely...
