    Making a Puppet (Please Help!!!)

Well, you're in the right place for research. In fact, I did a little for you! Check out these links for info on how to build a whale puppet: http://forum.muppetcentral.com/showthread.php?t=9869 http://forum.muppetcentral.com/showthread.php?t=13543 If you're looking for puppet...

Safe money is on them going the el-cheapo route or trying to do it completely with CG.

    LA Fashion District

You probably won't find any. I've never heard of a fabric shop stocking it because it's not a regular fabric, it's more of a specialty material. I bet the L.A. Puppet Guild could save you a lot of time and tell you for sure if you got in touch with them. Best thing is probably to order from...

No, not on that particular puppet. Three of them do have practical mouths, but the rest (like the one in the picture) just have heads that pivot using a rod control.

    Antron...

Yup, you want to use cold water because it won't affect the dye. What I do at this stage is place the fleece in the sink (make sure it's clean before you start) and then run cold water on it to rinse the fleece. Once I've rinsed the fleece I shut the tap off and squeeze most of the water out...

    Where to buy faux fur?

It's worth noting that Orappa Creek sells mohair - which is really handy if you need long fur or hair in a colour you can't otherwise find - but it's not the same as conventional fake fur, requires more time to work with and is usually more expensive. It's neat stuff to work with and the Orappa...

    Bear Town

OK, I lied. No new episode this week, largely because I have to go out of town for my brother's wedding and before that I have a bunch of non-puppet freelance stuff that has piled up. I did however post a picture of one of the cockroaches from the second episode in my blog (hit the link in my...

    Gonzo puppet

Good person to ask would be Pdbooch. Not sure how often he checks the forum here these days, but you could try sending him an email via his profile. You can see pictures of the Gonzo he made at http://homepage.mac.com/pdbooch/puppets/PhotoAlbum5.html

    1969 backdrops

Granted I don't catch the show often, but isn't the "blank" backdrop and wall a near-constant on Sesame? I think they've kept using it because - just like the Sesame Street Muppets - the show tends to use a very simple approach to design. The "wall" segments on the show always reminded me of...

ALF Comes To DVD In Season Sets

I forgot about that. It's interesting that they did that because Jim Henson was very upset when Alf came on the air. According to Bernie Brillstein Jim was very upset he helped Paul Fusco get Alf on NBC and he thought that the Muppets should be Brillstein's only "puppet" client.

    How much to buy,,,

Parody is tricky thing - and legally it's open to a lot of interpretation. Doing some thing like this is absolutely permitted as "fair use" but if a certain mouse-eared copyright owner decided to challenge whether not what you're doing is fair use or not in court you're going to need a lawyer...

    How much to buy,,,

Good rule of thumb is one metre (or yard) for each puppet unless it is especially large. If it's a "live hands" puppet I would go for 1 1/2 if you can afford to.

    Elmwood Productions, my puppet site

Sometimes stuff gets cut or bumped because of time. We should watch for it tomorrow. Dave only airs repeats on Fridays, right?

Thanks! The Preacher was actually built by Marlene Reimer's company Puppets For Goodness Sake. At the risk of “ruining the magic” and say that the church is actually just a series of pictures I digitally manipulated to create background plates - the Preacher was shot against a green screen in my...
