My first attempt at Yoda:

The ears are a little too big and sagging right now because there isn't any wire in them. I'm not very happy with this, it looks too Muppety I think. I toying with the idea of either...
Cases of copyright infringement (how do we always end up on this subject?) are usually judged on whether or not the (alleged) infringing work is "derivative" of the original and likely to cause confusion in the market place. I think there's little doubt that this is case of someone riffing on...
Thanks, I couldn't find the section that refers to the exception you mentioned (any chance you have the exact URL?) but that's interesting. I've never seen a reference to that particular exception and couldn't find one online, but it makes sense.
This would definately not apply to TV show...
Do you have a reference for that information?
Although I believe you're correct about copying commercials for education/research purposes, posting them on the web or sending them to other people is actually considered distribution which is normally considered a violation of the owner's copyright.
Are you sure about that? I don't follow the series, but my understanding was that the puppets are from "Blue's Room" which was launched back in August and that the main show still uses animation.
Wel, to be completely honest Bork Bork I'm not 100% sure. I assumed it was copyrighted since they are distributing it on DVD (I believe they made some kind of arrangement with Lucasfilm to make that possible) and it's not available on the official Hardware Wars site and most of the major sites...
Umm...I hate to be a spoil sport and throw cold water on everything, but should you really distrbute that without the filmmaker's permission? Although it's been widely pirated for twenty years I don't think it's suppose to be freely distributed. The new special edition with "special defects" is...
Thanks guys, this is just a rough mock-up so far though. I'm still not sure how to do the four arms manipulation-wise (he has to be able to wield four lightsabers). I hope to get the head finished this weekend, I'll post more pics soon.
BTW, Hardware Wars is the original Star Wars fanfilm.
For the past few months in what little spare time I have I've been slowly working on a Star Wars fan film - it's basically a spoof with puppet versions of Yoda, Chewie, Clone Troopers, etc.
Tonight I started working on a foam build-up of the head of the new bad guy in Episode III (spoiler...
I haven't read the whole thread so forgive me if someone already brought this up, but Disney has announced full-season sets of the Muppet Show on DVD so isn't a letter writing campaign kind of moot at this point? There will likely be lots of extras; they recently taped interviews with Jerry Juhl...
I'll second that.
When I did black light theatre we always looked for dancers, mimes, clowns (classically trained ones - not the birthday party variety) and people with backgrounds in physical theatre because they come with years of physical training built-in and could usually be taught very...
That's the situation I was alluding to above. It's perfectly understandable that they want an attractive cast. It's an expensive show on Broadway and the puppeteers work in full view and that's just the nature of the beast. Ditto for the commitment factor.
But I refuse to believe that they...
Have you checked Libraries? There are several books on Jim Henson and his career. The Works is the best of the lot, but there is also:
- Jim Henson: Young Puppeteer by Leslie Gourse
- The Story of Jim Henson by Stephanie St. Pierre
- Jim Henson's Designs and Doodles
- Of Muppets and Men by...
