Just two questions:
1. Do you know who gets The Hope Channel International in Canada? I've never heard of it.
2. Where the heck is Oceana anyways? (I've always wondered that)
I've found that most 1/2" foam is too soft (though there are dense varieties of it out there). I try to use 3/4" which seems to work nicely. If you can't find 3/4" foam readily available you can try carefully shaving 1" foam down to 3/4".
Does anybody have a list of good foam suppliers that...
What I think a lot of people don't realize is that the Muppets of 2004 are not the Muppets of circa 1980. I have no idea how they are doing hiring these days, but I'd gather from the fact that a lot of the regular second string Muppeteers are doing other projects (LSOH, Avenue Q, etc.) there's...
Another "slow dry" adhesive is Weld-Bond, which I've used. It works great and is non-toxic (unlike contact cement) BUT the lengthy drying time means that a puppet that takes hours or days to make could take weeks instead. :smirk:
The best thing to use to glue foam is an all purpose contact cement gel. It's usually sold in paint cans at Home Depot and hardware stores. You have to be careful because there are many different kinds of contact cement. It's probably a good idea to ask a clerk which one is best for gluing foam...
I usually reinforce the mouth plate by gluing thin, flexible strips of fabric over the mouthplate and the surrounding foam if I think the puppet will get a lot of wear and tear. I've never really had a problem with the mouthplate ripping or wearing down, but you do need to use strong or rigid...
