I can't see the clips either, Windows SP2 will actually block the videos and won't let them run. Quicktime would be much, much better.
My advice:
1. Don't embed the video on the page - link to the .wmv file
2. If you have to embed the videos in an HTML page, don't embed multiple videos on...
I've been a puppeteer for about 11 years now, nine years professionally. I remember occasionally fooling around with puppets as a kid but didn't really get serious until I was about 16 in high school and we started making videos with puppets.
I believe what actually happened was that the technique of carving puppet heads out of foam and flocking them started on The Muppet Musicians of Bremen because they ran out of a specific material they had been using for that production.
The Muppets had been using foam long before that.
They also have footage of the Kermit balloon from `85

But the real non-Muppet coolness is the He-Man parade footage - http://www.x-entertainment.com/thanksgiving/macyparade/1985-1986/4/index.html...
Tztz, there's a good overview of the foam latex written by the master himself (Tom McLaughlin) at http://www.sagecraft.com/puppetry/building/FoamPuppets.html
Yeah, it's under assault over but especially in the U.S. where the MPAA and RIAA are so powerful. I wouldn't be surprised if they take away the "back up copy" clause, most countries don't have that.
Copyright isn't really alll that loosely interpreted though, sadly in most cases the...
Actually, they're not if they are used in a parody. There was a famous case about this earlier in the year, the guys at JibJab got sued over their "This Land" flash cartoon during the Presidential election (you can read about it here) and sued the copyright owner in order to prove that parody...
Parodies are considered "fair use" and legal, but even there it's kind of tricky (use of copyrighted material for satire isn't legal). Most TV shows and movies clear things even when they don't have to just to avoid problems.
Copyright law prohibits the creation of what are called "derivative works" which means not only can you not make an exact copy of a Muppet without permission you can't even make a similar puppet that resembles one.
For example, the Muppets sued the Canadian TV show "Wimzie's House" because...
Hawaii also has a nice puppetry program at one of the universities there. Not as well known and recognized as the one at UCONN, but during this time of the year the weather is an awful lot nicer. ;)
The product safety specialist at LePage's once told me that it was "incredibly stupid" (his words) to use contact cement without the proper protection and ventilation. And I mean they make the stuff. When the manufacturer openly tells people how potentially dangerous a product can be it's safe...
Traditionally I've used LePage's Premium contact cement, but I've gotten in to the aforementioned "Green" non-toxic cement. It's true the drying time is longer, but it doesn't contain solvents or carcinogens.
Please tell me you're working in a well-ventilated area with a respirator Yahnke...
I worked on a TV project where they were using a puppet that just vaguely resembled a Muppet and Henson got wind of it and put a stop to it. They were apparently very nice, but very serious about it.
I remember someone who worked with the Muppets in the late 70s/early 80s telling me awhile...
My biggest mistake was chatting with someone in a workshop while waiting for some hot glue (the industrial stuff, not the low-temp) to set and thoughtlessly putting my hand on the workbench without looking...right in to the middle of the hot glue.
That was a second degree burn (you could...
I haven't worked with Copydex, but I've heard of it. The closest product in North America that I know of is LePage's Pres-Tite Green Contact Cement. It's solvent-free and works on just about everything that regular contact cement does but the fumes are supposedly non-toxic.
If you're using...
