    What are Kermit's build specs?

I don't have much seam allowance, but I try to pattern the material so that the fabric's stretch will give me a little allowance if I need it. The durability of the stitches depends entirely on how well you sew.

    Yarn Question...

That might be the way to go, a woolen mill or someone who spins there own. I had to get wool custom-spun by someone before and it didn't even cost very much. Another option might be to try creating strands of wool by colouring it and then using white glue to help it hold it's shape.

My New Puppet Series is up! Check it out

I really like it. I think the character designs are really interesting. The hallmark of a really good puppet to me is that you look at it and immeadately recognize it's character and I think that happens with these puppets. I also really like most of the shots and the staging, a lot of it is...

    What are Kermit's build specs?

Ravagefrackle makes a really good point about not relying soley on forums like this. At a certain point you just have to do it (build the puppet, dye the fleece, etc.) and realize that mistakes will happen. The advice I heard from someone along time ago about how to be a good puppet builder was...

    New Muppet Exhibit in Washington

There's a new Muppet exhibit opening at the Smithsonian. It includes some of the original "Sam and Friends" puppets as well as the Kermit from `69 they've had in their collection for several years. I've posted more details in my blog -...

Working with kids and puppet building

I think that going to locations is the way to go too, at least at first. You don't want to have the overhead associated with a location if you are just starting out with a business. You'd have to pay rent, utilities, taxes, insurance, etc. it's a real pain. Also, people will pay more for the...

    What are Kermit's build specs?

Lynn, You really should not dye antron fleece with a washing machine. I think most people who get really good results hand dye it in a large tub. Have you read the Project Puppet Blog post about dying antron fleece? It's a very good guide to dying antron.

    Wolf Hair Dryer Puppet

This is great! It reminds me of the adorable, animal character covers they sell for household appliances in Japan.

    How much do I charge?

You should check what SAG or AFTRA (the unions for puppeteers in the U.S.) charge for regional or local commercials. Be sure to check the local rates because they are very different (lower) than what actors get paid for national spots in the U.S. I think. I know of a few commercials shot this...

    Terry Angus Eye Mech Images

I know the now-famous eye mech drawings and photos that were originally done by Terry Angus are much-requested and lately hard to find on the web, but I just noticed Michele (PuppetPlanet) has reposted them to her website: Drawings - http://www.puppet-planet.com/images/blinkeye2.jpg Puppet...

    What are Kermit's build specs?

In my experience, the RIT chart does work but you have to follow the instructions really carefully, especially quanitities of water and dye if you are mixing two different colours. Although I've had good results with RIT in the past I really like Aljo dye.

    Puppet Costuming

That really gets in to character design, which is a big, complex topic. For example, for the project I'm doing right now, most of the characters have very detailed, complete costuming because they are supposed to inhabit a very realistic world. Then there are exceptions, like a bunch of...

    Puppet Costuming

I think you could get a lot of comedic mileage out of the fact that it's a monster in a dress, so I would go for the best-looking Gibson Girl dress you can get.

I just what to buy it ...

Jarrod is really fantastic in this. I'm not personally in to these Muppet (or Muppet-inspired) ebay auctions myself, but I think this is the best, most creative ebay auction video I've ever seen!
