re: Antron Fleece
This just made me thought of a quote from Ravagefrackle from the interview Sean has been running in his Puppet 101 blog:
...don’t be afraid to look at different materials - experiment. I know a lot of people like to build the “Muppet” style puppet, and they want to use the...
Certainly possible, but I suspect not. It would be a hassle for the puppeteer to design a puppet that way. My guess is that there was one mech (possibly one that permitted multi-axis rotation) and most of the eye "movement" people think they are seeing is created by careful eye focus with the...
I thought this would be a good time to remind everybody that there is a Frappr Map of puppeteers around the world available...its goal is to build the most comprehensive map of puppeteers worldwide possible. At the moment it has almost 160 people on it, but I know there are more puppet people...
Yes, I believe it was/is used in hi-fi speakers. It's most common application is as a filter for air conditioners. I am not an engineer, but I believe it's classified as an industrial filter foam so you could try looking for that.
I started a thread where we can list reticulated foam suppliers here, I just edited it to add Scott Industries, which I had totally forgot. Thanks Blink!
Since the question always gets asked, I thought I would start a thread listing all of the suppliers for reticulated "Scott" foam worldwide and maybe other people can add to it suppliers I have missed:
Asia
S D Industrial
21-227 Busan Industrial Supplies Market 578
Gwaebeop-dong, Sasang-gu...
It's available in Toronto from Engineered Foam products up in Concord, but I believe they have a $250-300 minimum order. If you need smaller quantities I think the best source for small sheets would be ProjectPuppet or you can try finding it sold as filters for air conditioners or such (it's...
I usually use Peach as the basis for caucasian skin tones and add pinks, oranges, yellows and browns. This is just off the top of my head, but equal parts tangerine and a pink may give you a colour close to the one you want. As others have said, it really is trial and error. Once I get a flesh...
I think a few links to Vaccuform table "how-tos" have been posted here over the years, but I really like this tutorial - http://www.studiocreations.com/howto/vacuumtable/index.html
It's from the people behind the DH2 Costume & Prop site that has lots of great tutorials worth checking out.
Thought this might be of interest to people in PA:
Renaissance Artist Puppet Company will be offering Puppet Manipulationand Building classes from July 31 ? August 11, 2006. Location: The Montgomery County Cultural Center, 208 DeKalb Street, Norristown, PA

Channel 102 held it's May screenings Monday night and both Cakey! The Cake From Outer Space and Puppet Rapist screened their final episodes. Both shows were "self-cancelled" by their creators because they had reached the end of their pre-determined story arcs.
You can find both shows via...
...unfortunately these weren't regular shirts. They were filled with all kinds of gang imagery. Kind of a weird story - http://www.local6.com/news/9263741/detail.html
I've been hearing from a few people that they've gotten pre-ordered copies of John Kennedy's new book Puppet Planet. I won't be back in Canada until the summer so I probably won't see this for another month or two, but I was wondering if anyone here gotten one yet?
Puppetise, your puppets look really good. You should just keep building and doing better and better work and not worry so much about how much your puppets are selling for.
To use a baseball metaphor, I think it's a mistake to "swing for the fences" and start out trying to hit home runs with...
Check out this YouTube video of a stone Golem costume someone made for a live-action RPG.
Apparently it was constructed from 5 foam mattresses, with over 50 sticks of hot melt glue (yeesh!) and 8 cans of grey and black spray paint. The foam was glued in large thick sheets to a fabric...
Aaron, you should join one of the PofA's Southeast Guilds (whichever is closest to you). This URL has a list - http://www.puppeteers.org/reg_se.html
Even if you're not in South Florida, you should get in touch with David Goboff, who runs the Puppet Guild of South Florida. He might be a helpful...
