I've been offline for awhile, so I'm sorry if this has already been posted elsewhere, but Kevin Clash is doing a series of appearances next month (presumably, with Elmo in tow) to promote his new book "My Life As A Furry Red Monster".
Here's the schedule:

I would say go with the Project Puppet patterns if you can. The Foam Book is not bad, but it's been eclipsed by newer, better resources.
I have a Guide to Puppet Building Resources you can read too. There's a lot of good stuff listed in it (I think anyway!).
Try the L.A. Guild of Puppeteers Job Board. It's a good site to keep an eye on. Networking with members of that guild would probably be a good idea. It's often about being in the right place, at the right time and knowing the right people.
I'm going to add my voice to the chorus of "don't do its", but I've done stuffed with fire and minor pyro (professionally prepared). The puppets were not actually set on fire, but since there was some involved we used special flame retardent gloves just in case.

I'm using the latest version of FireFox (1.5.0.4) and it plays fine for me. If anyone is having trouble playing the Quicktime version in FireFox, make sure you have the latest version of QT. I used to have an older one and had a lot of trouble playing videos embedded in web pages.

Just an update on this, Boing Boing has a lot of coverage and a public response from YouTube about the controversy - http://www.boingboing.net/2006/07/20/youtubes_new_policy_.html
I know, that's exactly what surprised me the most about this. There's something like 100 video hosting sites and some like Google's and Revver you can even make money on your videos so this is really risky for them.
You can protect yourself by deleting your files from the site:
The foregoing license granted by you terminates once you remove or delete a User Submission from the YouTube Website.BTW, I was just reading on someone's blog that while MySpace did have a clause like this in their TOS, they removed...
Certainly, YouTube isn't trying to steal anyone's work outright, but they are getting permission to exploit it however they choose or at least they could. "Derivative works" can be anything - merchandise, spin-offs, DVDs, etc. I agree that probably they are just covering their butts at this...
Pretty much. I think it's a really stupid move on YouTube's part, it's going to drive independent creators away from the site. Incidentally, I think MySpace has a similar policy in their Terms of Service, but I am not sure since I haven't read those myself.
