    Antron fleece uncertainties

I'll second (or third) Bezalel's opinion, it can a great material to work with (and do check out the link to his site...he offers some great tips). I also think Puppetainer's point about regular fleece is good too. You really should buy some small samples of different kinds of fleece (try...

Can someone help me? Also, other puppet shows

The show was called Chicken Minute. It was produced in Canada in the 1990s by largely the same team that did Professor Iris.

TVTV Halloween Special... watch it quick!

This is really quite an accomplishment; you've now produced not one, but two of these for broadcast TV. You should be very proud Gordon.

    Latex Hand Puppet Building resources?

The Noreen Young video that David mentioned is probably the best place to start.

By "latex" do you mean rubber latex or foam latex?

Help Choosing a Wireless Mic System

I am not an expert in audio equipment, but in my experience you get what you pay for. Puppetainer is probably right, this might work well as a starter system but I think you're right to be skeptical based on the price. The better systems I've seen made by companies like Shure cost at least...

Recent blog states Puppetry Degree is "Worthless"

Personally, I wouldn't worry about this. Creating a debate just gives this person more attention then they deserve. I think it is fair to argue that a degree in puppetry is self-indulgent or superfluous, but this author thinks that a degree in Fire Protection Engineering is worthless too so I...

Need Help with Latex and Foam

You don't have to seal the foam, but you should (sorry, I forgot to mention sealing the foam first). A non-toxic alternative to Super 77 is watering down Weldbond, which is a really good non-toxic adhesive similar to regular white glue. You have to experiment with that technique to find the...

I have seen a lot of furs that would work, the probably is finding it in your area. Have you looked at Mendel's web site - http://www.mendels.com

Need Help with Latex and Foam

How big is the turtle shell you're coating with latex? There are different kinds of latex. It sounds like the thinner latex you have is a "detail latex"; it's purposely thin so that you can use it for fine details which was probably exactly the right latex for what you're doing. (Just FYI...

    Best Way to Audition Puppeteers?

The PofA website has all its directors and their contact information listed (under "Regions" I think). You should really join both PofA and UNIMA-USA before opening your theatre; they will add you to their national listings of puppet theatres. I think the Jim Henson Foundation also maintains a...

    Best Way to Audition Puppeteers?

Tom's right about the police check, in fact I'd be surprised if you could get insurance without having everyone who worked there passing a police check. Myself and another puppeteer had to co-ordinate a batch of puppeteers for a project earlier this year; we developed a process where we did an...

    The Feebles

If you're interested in "Feebles" a really good book to check out is "Peter Jackson: A Filmmaker's Journey" which tells the behind the scenes story of the film really well. It's available in the U.S. and internationally, but not arriving here in Canada until later this year (I picked up a copy...

    Webcams and Chat headsets

A lot of puppeteers are using set-ups like this on sites like BlogTV for webcasting. I think the only drawback is that many (most?) webcams give you a mirror, rather than reverse image (more about that subject here).

Where do you get your latex?

I use several Monster Makers products. They're usually really good.
