    Before you give up completely, keep in mind that there are other ways to tackle a project like this. You can use other materials. Tztz (a member of the forum) made a similar sort of puppet a few years ago and I don't think he used any foam latex...just polyfoam. There is a picture of it online...

    That would be my suggestion too. If the hair dryer doesn't work, I've had success with heat guns in this situation before BUT you have to be insanely careful with a heat gun. They will burn fabric and they can set your house on fire if you're not careful.
