I think the performers had a good bit to do with keeping things appropriately Muppety, too. If I remember right, Jason Segel and Nick Bobin have said as much. They also talk about the "Muppet Bible" that was given to them, but I'm not sure where that came from? I assume it was Jim and Kirk...
Thanks so much for sharing this. It's fascinating. I'm to the part when they're returning to LA after getting Piggy. My biggest problem with the movie was that I have a hard time swallowing the Muppets being broken up for any length of time. Reading this, with actual animosity in the group and...
I remember watching TMS reruns in the early 80s as a small child. I can't remember a world without Kermit & Co, and I don't want to! :) I've always loved them, but I don't think I realized how much I loved them until Jim Henson died. I was in the eighth grade, and it felt like my whole world...
I don't think he's being forgotten. Certainly not by anyone here! :) But not in the world at large, either. Do you remember his 75th birthday last year? There was quite the fuss, for a guy who's been gone for 20 years. Google did their thing. There were tributes all over the internet. He...
Kermit is my favorite Muppet/frog/entertainer/person of all time (exaggeration only slight)
Cookie Monster is my favorite on Sesame Street.
Boober is far and away my favorite Fraggle.
If I try to start making lists beyond any of that, my brain explodes. I was trying, for some reason, to...
I liked Muppets Tonight. It was no Muppet Show, but what is? There were plenty of misses among the sketches, but that's true of any show with that sort of format--including TMS.
One thing, though. I've been watching a few eps on YT lately, and I think they were trying too hard to be edgy or...
Yeah. I've seen Bill B. say so a few times. He even mentioned it in a tweet to me not long ago. I'd written him that my daughter's response to MTI was "I liked the goat," and he wrote back "That's awesome. Yeah I miss that character. He got lost or stolen years ago. Shame."
So...
I hope that wasn't enough to invoke her wrath; otherwise, I beg the Pig's pardon. When the Muppets were on SNL with Jason Segel, her response to pigs flying was one of my favorite things. "I believe that pigs can fly..." "First class!" :)
So, I find it encouraging that here's someone...
I'd like to know if the Target deal with the bonus Muppet Show disc will be available in stores. If so, I'd rather just run out and buy it on the 20th. No shipping, no waiting. It says it's out of stock online...don't know if that means they're sold out or if they never offered it online...
I wish they had a good reason to rebuild Clueless Morgan, just because Bill B. always sounds a little sad when he mentions his disappearance. I wonder what happened there, anyway? If he was lost, how could he possibly have remained lost all this time? If he was stolen...well, who would steal...
I just love appearances by Kermit and Fozzie. The ones with Piggy have their own charm, of course. But they are, neccessarily, All About Piggy. Piggy makes sure of it. Whereas when it's Fozzie, Steve and Eric just get to be funny together. So much fun. :)
Thanks for the heads up! I skimmed through the episode online to watch their parts. They're so cute (they would hate being called cute, wouldn't they?). As usual, I love how happy the humans in the room are to be talking to them.
That's so cool! If I were at an event where Statler and Waldorf were in an actual balcony, I think I could die happy. :) Did they just do the one bit, or did they comment throughout?
Heh heh. I just had a mental image of a camera panning down the street, and passing by a group of these six Muppets singing on a corner or something. I suppose they'd never build the puppets just for that, and no one would even get it other than hardcore fans. But it would be beautiful. :D
Gosh. I didn't realize how much violence there was in The Muppets. :D
I'm glad they're doing something to promote the blu-ray/dvd release. Had a feeling that the "last parody trailer" wouldn't be!
