When I have children, as far as their entertainment goes, I may be forced to raise them entirely on vintage Sesame Street DVDs!
...and you know this is starting to remind me of The Stepford Wives!
Wow, when I was in college I always played "Saying Goodbye" when I was getting ready to go back to school each year and leave my friends. Then when I'd come home my friend and I would play "Together Again." ;)
...I really want to see that "Gone But Not Forgotten" episode, it sounds great!
Jim obviously approved of adult-oriented humor. But there is a difference between subtle, witty and well-written adult humor and...um...not so well-written adult humor. I think the difference is pretty clear when comparing classic Muppet projects to more recent ones.
Yes, "Wembley And the Gorgs", being the 2nd episode, has a few inconsistencies.
In addition, I think it's human nature that if you have a set way of looking at something, you don't always pay attention when someone refutes it. So even if Junior hears the fraggles talking about names, he...
I saw that before. It's a really good parody of Muppet Babies, they really knew their details. Plus, it had a good message.
According to YouTube, "After watching the Rodney King beating video, the Muppet Babies learn of the concept of race and begin to question whether they can still be...
Interesting note: I saw The Muppets' appearance on 60 Minutes from 1979, and the narrator compared The Muppets' popularity (during the run of The Muppet Show) to the former heyday of Disney. Ironic, The Muppets were at their most popular when Disney was floundering.
SPOILER
I love Mokey's "Ragtime Queen" song. And Junior's reaction when he think he's killed a Fraggle is so sad and perfectly done. You really felt the Mother/Son bond with Junior and Ma Gorg.
This is a nice thread idea. :)
I always watched Sesame Street and I had...let's see...a toy chest, foot stool, toothbrush, play set, action figures, etc. Sheesh, I think my parents made the CTW very wealthy! I had records and books on tape (Yeah I feel old!). I remember one where Bert and...
Let's see, I'm trying to think of ones that haven't been mentioned yet...
The villians from The Musicians of Bremen, they were funy but still, you hated them for how they treated their animals.
And the two FunFair guys from Follow that Bird, they kidnapped Big Bird!
About Charles Grodin...
I just got to see the Puppetman pilot at The Museum of TV and Radio! It's truly a shame that show didn't get picked up, it was very funny and even touching. Richard was great, he really stood out. I recommended the episode to some of The Museum employees. :)
Yeah I thought the same thing, it is sort of funny to think of Jim having to say (in Kermit's voice) how great Jim is! lol
I saw this at The Museum of TV and Radio, I'm glad it's on youtube now. It's a great clip, it really captures a moment in time. The Muppets were clearly enormously...
I think the idea is that The Muppets are slowly starting to adopt Elton's style as they observe him throughout the episode. Scooter's outfit is the first sign of that; it's supposed to happen gradually and unexpectedly.
