I am going and I'm co-hosting four panels this year with Mark Evanier.
On Friday, it's Spotlight on Joe Ruby and Ken Spears, the two heads of, what else, the Ruby-Spears cartoon studio. That's at 2:00 in Room 8.
On Saturday, we have Cartoon Voices I, with Jason Marsden, the legendary...
Yes, "Big Figure" is the term for this series, not "Big Statue" as I stated above. I actually knew it wasn't "Big Statue", but was too lazy to research the correct name. And it turns out I didn't need to, because here's the real name anyway!
:p
It's from a couple of years ago and was part of their continuing "Big Statue" line of characters. Kermit was also flocked, so he was fuzzy. I believe he sold for $150. I never got one, as nice as it was. I opted for the Master Replicas Kermit instead.
:p
Animal and Gonzo haven't sold out. Even Master Replicas is discounting them currently by 10% to non-collector's society members. The website says they're "going fast", but that's just a sales tool. Kermit took something like a year-and-a-half to two years to sell out. I can't imagine the...
I had to laugh when I saw this. All I could think about was trying to talk my wife into using this when we were getting married and her saying, "So what, you think I'M Miss Piggy?"
:p
I truly think that Rizzo and Pepe would be just as hard to reproduce as Fozzie is. As Luke pointed out in the other thread, they would use less materials, but they're still complicated (although they haven't gone through as many variations on their head shapes as has Fozzie). The simplest one...
DisneyStore.com still has Gonzo cheaper than the MR 10% off price. If you watch their ads long enough, you can get him when they have free shipping or greatly reduced shipping.
Plus, MR collectors society members have always been offered the 10% off price.
:p
He might... if he had one. Terry doesn't even have one. There was only enough fur to build the three he was commissioned to make for MR.
:p
P.S. I only said "he might" for the joke. Terry would NEVER sell a copyrighted character. He has the utmost integrity!
Thank you, Luke, for once again being the voice of reason. Just because a customer service company shill says something, doesn't make it so.
Now mind you, I'm not saying Fozzie's been cancelled. He hasn't, as far as I know, but I wouldn't believe everything the company is saying at this...
Along with that, I just had it confirmed that Master Replicas/Corgi/Popco/Whoever-they-are-now has pulled out of Comic-Con. Not good news!
:p
P.S. You can check the exhibitor list at Comic Con International Exhibitors
The problem with making the accessory packs, as I understand it, is that they only made 2500 Kermits. Out of those that bought him, how many outfits could they sell? If it's not enough to justify design and manufacturing costs, then it's not worth it for them to do it.
On the other hand, if...
I don't think they're exactly the same. Conky had someone inside it waving the arms around and tilting the head back and forth. R2D2 is more of a radio-controlled robot... although there are also radio-controlled puppets, so the answer is somewhat ambiguous.
I guess you could call R2 a...
Billy Baloney was like a ventriloquist puppet and even Chairy was a puppet. So was Conky (SP?) the robot and, was it, Mr. Screen? I forget the name of the magic TV screen that was also a puppet.
