The 98min one is really worth getting hold of. It also has a different closing credits soundtrack where you can actually hear what the Muppet audience are saying. For some reason, the opening few notes of "Movin' Right Along" are played over the top of Fozzie saying "A frog and a bear seeing...
Okay, bearing in mind that videos and DVDs in the UK run at a faster speed than in the US (not sure why but it's true) the classic version of The Muppet Movie (the one released several times throughout the 90's) runs at 95mins. The original 1980 release (see first picture link) runs ay 94mins...
When I first saw AVMMCM I noticed a change in Fozzie and Piggy's voices but didn't realise that Frank had officially jumped ship. I was pretty disappointed when I looked at the end credits. I was convinced that Frank was just having a off day. lol.
The UK release in the yellow case (it was in a large music cassette type case) was the shorter version. I'll try and post the photos of the covers soon. The longer version also had an extended bit from Doc Hopper's TV commercial.
Thinking about it, Mokey always seemed the least favourite of the Fraggles and ANY of the other four would be used in promotional material more often than she would, even back in the 80's.
Thing is, as it's been said before, you can buy very realistic (if not expensive) Muppet replica puppets on eBay now. I'm kinda undecided about the whole issue. I know that I would LOVE an official Muppet puppet tho!
Thanks for the confirmation. Did you get to see the ad they made? There was a link to it on the old Henson forum at the time but they removed the video before I managed to see it. Apparently, the puppet and the performance were a disgrace.
Just thought I should tell you guys about the old 80's UK release of The Muppet Movie on video. Not sure if everyone knows about it already but it has extra footage that hasn't appeared in any later release (as far as I am aware). Fozzie's stand-up is extended slightly, Dr. Teeth reads more from...
I'm pretty sure it started in '83. It debuted in the UK back then at least. I think it's kinda cool to see the episodes intact and as they were originally shown without the remastering. I'm still waiting for the first season to be released in the UK with Faulton MacKay as the captain rather than...
I'm pretty sure that a while ago, a French company used a crudely made Kermit replica in an advertisement for a fast food restaurant because the Jim Henson Company wouldn't loan them just the Kermit puppet without an official Henson puppeteer.
I'd be pretty interested in hearing some of you guys best Muppet impressions too! :) I have seen Jarod's (I think that's correct :smirk: ) puppeteering and his Elmo impression is uncanny! I do a pretty good (in my opinion but don't quote me) impression of Kermit.
You might be able to use the "magic wand" selection tool as the background is pretty even in brightness. Just adjuct the tolerance until the magic wand only highlights the background and not the frog.
Chris, I think it is fair to say you have nailed the "original Kermit look" with your photos. I can't imagine anyone, who didn't actually know they were of the replica, would realise they weren't photos of the real Kermit.
Good job!
