Aw, thanks Skye! It is definitely fun to learn more. Hope you're able to listen to the podcast. If not, let us know and I'll describe the part about Charlie Muskrat. ;)
Ugh, no unfortuntaely I don't remember where it was, some kind of research database. But it was basically the same article, as I say. I'll see if I can find it again though. I do remember that it says his middle initial was B, and that he died in 1976.
In other news, check out the...
It was also nice to hear the kids at the Q&A, they really seemed to enjoy Emmet Otter and the Muppets in general. Which I think does go to show that kids today are still interested in Muppets and they don't need to change at all. :)
How true that is, there is a need for accuracy people! Especially in Journalism. ;)
She did concentrate on unexpected topics however, such as the Opera story and childhood memories, with is great. The Opera story is particularly fun, Richard was probably the most comfortable person in the...
Great interview with Dave Goelz! I completely understand what he meant about the Muppets becoming a spiritual journey. I've always felt that way too, and though I hadn't noticed before, I guess Emmet Otter was one of the first times that side of the Muppets was revealed.
It was also so nice...
Yeah there was an episode where Doug was comparing himself to Chalky, who was always so much smarter and more successful than him over the years. And at a spelling bee, Doug got an easy word wrong, and Chalky got that complicated word (see above) right. Lol
I remember that article; I do wish the writer had gone more in depth on that topic (though I'm grateful she wrote the piece at all of course!). I don't want to get too negative but it is sad that Richard isn't here now to discuss his Muppet experiences the way the other performers are. On the...
It's certainly an intriguing idea. It would certainly give his talks more substance. For me, whatever it is, it would really depend on the writing. If they are playing down to kids or not.
Yeah it's a problem that all of the Muppet projects have had for awhile. Their core group that made them...
Cool, definitely I would try that. I've occasionally toyed with the idea of Mokey and Beige keeping up a correspondence afterwards. I also wonder what the Cave Fraggles thought of the Doozers when they were living in the Rock years before, hmm. This is so much fun, lol!
You notice that...
Lol, yeah sometimes we disagree, but that's OK. It's more interesting than always saying "Yes I agree!" ;)
And I do get what you mean about characters learning things. If characters like the Muppets (or many other fictional characters) eventually, completely, totally learned their lesson, the...
Yes I remember checking the credits once to see if it really was Don Knotts. I don't believe it was, but it was an incredible simulation!
I remember Chalky too, who was all perfect and got good grades. I just liked his name for some reason, lol. And he knew how to spell...
Right that was him! Oh yeah, his wife Tippy did become mayor. The old mayor was hilarious ("Vote for me!") And Bullfington was the bumper sticker capital of the world, lol. Wow...
Aww yeah, the "Fraggles Look for Jobs" clip, which has unfortunately been removed from youtube. I really hope they put it on the last Fraggle DVD (though if they just keep talking about Richard, that would be great too!)
Yeah I wish they had gone back to Fraggle Cave at some point...
Lol, I hear you, Jim, unfortunately. :)
Two of my favorite Doug moments:
When Doug's fantasizing about being a Rock star and he's asked where he gets his inspiration:
"Oh anywhere! Like this plunger for instance. I could just pick it up and go 'Whoaaaa, plunger plunger, Whoooaaaa, plunger...
"I eat my sugar cereal but it makes my teeth bacterial!"
I loved the Beets, thought it was hilarious how in every one of their episodes Doug gets to meet them. And then every next time, Doug's depressed because he might not meet them, lol.
Their names were great: Monroe Yoder, Chap Lipman...
