I don't fully either. I am expecting Disney to hire the Muppeteers out through JHC, and for JHC to be paid "rent" to keep and maintain the puppets at Chaplin. I guess anything is possible with Disney though as the name change has shown.
Yeah and you know they already get more than most sitcom stars who appear on camera. Personally i think they should go back to work. The last time this happened Fox started looking around for replacement voice actors.
HIT will end up releasing Fraggle but i think it'll be compilation DVD's, very kiddified extras (sing-a-longs and things) and with less powerful distribution. First in the UK, then in the USA. HIT are a pre-school company and in a recent interview said they have no plans to move away from...
I'm not totally sure but from what i gathered thats not correct. All the Muppeteers are retained exclusively by the Henson Company but work for them on a freelance basis. When another company (Sesame, Disney) want to use them they hire them out through the Henson Company. This is the reason...
Yup, you are correct sir. The name belongs to the Henson Legacy. All this name business is either because Disney don't want to use it (or pay to use it) and probably want to make it clear they now own the characters, or that the Henson people think having Disney projects labelled "Jim Henson's...
There is one of each type of Johnny paint scheme in each case of figures (3 of each character in a case) so there is not one really more rare than the other. The striped one is the signature version which some people may want more but right now one hasn't really stood out as being 'hot'. All...
Out of interest why can you automatically understand why Disney could not use the Jim Henson brand name ? EMTV never bought the Jim Henson brand name, just the company (which included his name in the title) yet their agreement with the Henson family still allowed them to use his name. The...
I think this will be like the EMTV thing though - more emphasis on Europe than America. If you look at HIT's current stuff, Thomas is probably the only one they have really developed well overseas. Angelina and Bob do ok over there, Barney hasn't been handled that well since they got it...
Yeah, its great news indeed. There are a lot of ex-Henson people at HIT so thats great, and they do seem to have been on a buying spree of late so are definitely on their way up. I think the one criticism people in the media have of HIT is that they do tend to over-expose properties where they...
Cory,
I'm REALLY sad to hear about Kiwi passing away. I remember all that you said about her and how she liked to watch Muppets. I'm thinking of ya man !!!
From Ananova.com :-
Sir Peter Ustinov dies at 82
Oscar-winning actor Sir Peter Ustinov has died in Switzerland. He was 82.
A close friend said that Ustinov died on Sunday night. The British-born actor had lived in Switzerland for decades.
A person who answered the telephone at...
I doubt we'll see the kinda singing and long musical numbers we saw back in the 70's. I think it'll be more funny skits, and the occasional short musical number with a current "commercialy popular" celebrity - notice the lack of Muppet singing since MT and also very few celebrities who would...
Web Retailers will be shipping them out within days. Bricks and Mortar stores like Suncoast and TRU you are probably looking at a few weeks longer i guess. It doesn't surprise me that Fiama has been popular online - most of the hardcore collectors order from the net and he is a fan favorite...
Yeah basically EBGAMES only buy so many cases, and so they only have a few of each Johnny Fiama variant. They also offer them all up for sale individually usually which means the variants sell out fast. EBGAMES don't order up more cases to get more Johnny's (because that would mean they are...
Cool, i love the busts. I saw them all together as a set at the UK Toy Fair and thought they looked really fantastic. It's a lot different from just seeing pictures of them on the web. Hopefully the cheaper prices will mean more people have a chance to own them.
.... and trust that earlier...
They mean "small" because it is missing Johnny Fiama. They sold out of him because of people snapping up all the variants so they are selling a smaller set without him. The only difference between Sam and Shifty Eyed Sam are the obvious :- shifty eyes !!!
Thats quite wierd. They sent out an email to their mailing list on 13th March offering 25% off if you entered 'Muppets' as the code. They were close to selling out then as well. I guess they didn't. Nice to know they are thinking about us all anyway!
;)
I would say :-
