Yeah there's too much emphasis nowadays on being "hip" and as a result, real emotion and innocence get sacrificed. I remember Jim Henson once said the key to his characters was their innocence, even when they were bad. I think that's what's missing nowadays, from many forms of entertainment.
Yeah but some of the kids in the audience are raised to know who the king is. I know it was meant to be a joke, but I just personally didn't find it funny, especially with the way the society treats Christmas lately.
But it's OK if other people liked it, we all have our opinions. :)
It is nice that they are making them, definitely. I just wish they were more reminiscent of earlier shows (and not just for myself, but for kids as well.)
3 of 5 is about what I would give it as well. Still didn't like that Alicia thing (though she herself was fine). And it's not right for the other characters to play second fiddle. And Christmas Eve on Sesame Street was a deeper, more multi-layered story. It should still be shown ever year...
The snowball's cute when he blows his nose, lol.
Interesting...the implication in this story is that you can't rely on ratings systems! LOL
Again, having hope when things look their worst is a great lesson, I'm glad they did it. It's just that it was done in a more multi layered way in...
Exactly, the rest of the cast is playing second fiddle, and it just doesn't bring up warm fuzzy feelings.
Nice Pampers commerical, with the sleeping babies and peace on Earth. That's what Christmas is about (not a ticklish toy hehe).
The song with Alicia was good, I just wish they hadn't made it look like she was the one saying "listen to what I say" in the song. Nowadays especially, I don't like spirituality being ignored at Christmas. That made it less enjoyable for me. But I won't go on and on about it. :grouchy:
Elmo's little "Now...now...aww" moment was cute, I admit.
Believing even when things are at their lowest is a very good lesson. :)
And thank goodness, they're not just doing secular Christmas songs!
However, I don't want to be picky but...despite what Elmo says, Alicia is not the one who...
Well, I like how they are using the count down calender to give the other characters their own moments. Grover is the cutest SS Muppet of all time!
On the other hand...I don't know. It's like they're being "generous" giving Big Bird and the others their own moments, because they wouldn't have...
I think the CGI is a big mistake, heh.
Ben Stiller is awesome!
I really liked Oscar's little Christmas "curses" hehe. And also this line:
"But it's only once a year!"
"I'm glad it's only once a year!"
I really can't listen to Elmo's laugh more than once. Though I am surprised that he's...
I remember The Stingiest Man in Town; that was a wonderful adaptation! It was creepy and disturbing at times (the Marley scenes and when Tiny Tim "dies"), then at other times very touching. And it managed to have songs about both Jesus Christ and Santa Claus. And I remember how the Santa song's...
Yeah kinda unusual that he didn't actually appear in the skit. Though Grover and Cookie Monster were in the scene together, maybe one of the newer puppeteers was performing one of them. But of course Richard always does find some way to make his presence known, lol. Especially when Cookie...
Lol, too true! And it's great how Big Bird is still so calm and straight faced throughout the whole interaction, hehe.
And how when the Chef first sees Big Bird, we hear thunder and lightning! Kinda creepy, lol.
I lalso love how the whole special is basically all the characters sitting...
Ugh, it's slightly annoying that this new Sesame Street video site doesn't supply links for the individual videos. But at the moment, I'd recommend watching "School Pageant: Seasons." True, you might notice, none of Richard's characters are in the skit. But I think I hear a familiar voice in the...
I saw the trailer in the theater a few weeks ago, I definitely want to see this! It looks so creepy and cool. Though I'm not sure why it's coming out at Christmas...::shrugs:: lol
