Yeah, it used to be the Muppets were about being weird and outside the norm. They took pop culture and molded it into their style (like Staying Alive being performed by pigs in powereded wigs). Nowadays, the emphasis is suddenly on being hip and cool. They are letting pop culture define them. If...
We'll just have to agree to disagree here. I just don't agree that it's been going further with the jokes. The original jokes were more sophisticated. And again, I find it strange that in order for the new stuff to be liked, the Jim-era stuff has to be put down. But as I said, agree to disagree...
See that's the thing, I don't like it when the Jim-era material is called things like "the same old cliches." The new material should compliment the classic material, not force it out of the way.
Having OCD tendancies can often make you feel depressed, because it's such a crippling thing to live with sometimes. Now I don't check the lock on my door every day or anything and I do have a pretty full life. But it's still hard worrying about things so often. You really need to learn to train...
Honestly, I don't hate change and it's frustrating when people think that, hehe. :) But there is a fine line between further developing a character and outright changing it.
Actually, I know exactly what you mean and have often felt the same way. There's this odd sense of jadedness and slight cruelty that keeps popping up in the new projects, that wasn't there before. It's not the same sort of snarky he was before.
I actually don't think he's become a pushover...
Wow, thanks for sharing that! Yeah, I'm not even from the UK but I always wish they'd put those on DVD! I've seen a couple Captain and Sprocket scenes before, and they were surprisingly even deeper than than the US/Canadian version. If that was possible. ;)
Well you know, if you go to a guy's friends, you'll hear all the good points. If you go to the same guy's enemies, you'll hear about the flaws. Both are usually pretty accurate, at least from those people's point of view. The truth is usually somewhere in the middle.
Actually I think I'd heard this before. Yup, the world is not as clean as we often think, lol. You do NOT want to know what's in typical restaurant ice or lemons.
Oh dear, lol, I meant to say Hey Cinderella! The big full bodied monster Splurg has a thing for radishes. It's a running gag in the special. At one point Splurg is running Cinderella carriage with Kermit in the driver's seat.
Fairy Godmother: Say, how did you get that thing to go so fast...
Well maybe it's sort of like with the Mr. Hooper episode. They wanted to focus mainly on the most disturbing aspect of dying (obviously that the person is never coming back) so kids wouldn't get a false sense of security.
Hmm, yes that's a very good point. I know it's not exactly the same but they've shown regular characters getting divorced or separated on The Simpsons and South Park and even on shows like that, it made me genuniely sad and angry to see them going through it.
That's interesting that it seemed...
That is interesting! Well as best as you can remember, do you think it helped you understand the concept of divorce, or did it just leave more questions? Without trying to get too personal of course. :)
Oh of course, that one's a classic! I always wanted that cookie the baby was eating, lol.
At the time I probably wondered why we never actually saw Cookie in that sketch and why it seemed he was just watching a TV screen of a baby. But that's what made Sesame Street so cool and innovative, it...
Well one of the ghost hunter shows did go to the Muppte Show theater once I think.
Off topic, but while I do think there's an afterlife and people who have passed away do still influence the world, I don't really think we can see them like that after they're gone.
Definitely, though I think the store employees must have thought I was crazy the way I kept examining the merchandise, lol.
Oh I totally understand, that's why I tried to keep it low key. But thanks for the reassurance, hehe. Yes, it IS quite peculiar!
Yup, I ordered it through Amazon...
Oh I definitely have a temper problem too, lol. It really takes practice and time to get it under control. The difference is, I generally only let it out with people I'm close to. I'm too afraid to do it to strangers, lol.
Hehe, but seriously, I know it's hard, but we have to remember that it...
