Ahh, well it could be that your prof and I have a difference of opinion of what "innocence" means. It's like the difference between childlike and childish. Childish means you're immature and not growing and taking responsibility in life. Childlike means you do learn and grow but still retain a...
Now here's something, does anyone remember the old Cotton commericals, "The touch, the feel of cotton, the fabric of our lives?" I missed that one for years!
It's funny, I mean, it's just a song about cotton, lol! But it's so touching, and poignant, because of course, it's not supposed to be...
I hope you heal quickly, Sara! Remember it's not what happens to us in life, it's how we deal with them! ;)
MuppetNewsgirl, you can feel free to share your thoughts if you want about kids entertainment, hehe.
It's just that not everyone agrees that that is adult humor. Some think that it's immature humor, like teenagers just trying to seem grown up. The adult humor in past projects, some say, was more sophisticated. And to me, some of the recent humor hasn't been just jaded, but oddly cruel. And...
Lol, aw, that can be very disapointing. I remember loving the Kellogs Smacks commercial ("I dig 'em!"). But when I tried the cereal, it didn't nothing for me! That was a good lesson in don't believe everything you see on Television! lol
Well I actually kinda agree with them, I think it's kinda weird for beloved characters children look up to trying to get kids to spend their money, lol.
Well I guess they couldn't completely remove commercials because without the advertisers, the shows wouldn't last. But there was a lot of...
Yeah eventually parents complained that it was wrong for TV characters to suddenly stop the show and start advertising a product to kids. I saw an epsiode of Howdy Dowdy, where the human character actually says, "Tell your parents to buy you Welsh's Grape Juice!" Sheesh! lol
I read a book once about TV advertising icons. I was very surprised to learn that originally there was only one Rice Krispies Elf, I think it was Snap. He gained two brothers, Krackle and Pop, a few years later. I can't imagine there not being three of them!
There were a few years when you...
Wow! Speaking of the Bunny Picnic! Not two seconds ago I was sitting here stressing out about a bunch of things, worry myself etc. I didn't know what to do. Then I lhappned to look up at the MC radio menu and it said "When You Stand, Tale of the Bunny Picnic." I haven't thought of the show's...
Yeah I think that's what's been missing in more recent projects. It's like they left childhood and are now teenagers trying to appear grown up, but it's really just coming across as immature.
Well I remember Jim once said the key to his characters, even the villians, was their innocence. Like when he said Harry Belafonte couldn't be seen in a heated argument with a Muppet because they're not capable of getting that angry.
WOW! That's weird, that's like seeing Grover in extreme Technicolor or something, hehe. I'd like to see that show. I wonder who the human in the shot is.
Oh cool, glad the question was approved!
Yeah the one I remember was how there's one day of the year when kids don't notice that their teddy bears are missing because they've all gone to the Teddy Bear picnic. "But one day, one little girl...did notice..." Lol, ah innocence!
I've heard that many feel commercials as we know them are on the way out. With IO and everything, people don't have to watch them so much. They'll have to find other ways to advertise. Won't it be so strange, if the commercials we remember go the way of the telegraph and the record player?
Thanks! Did you see the Muppet version of the Bunny Picnic? Actually...IS there any other version? I may be thinking of the Teddy Bears Picnic, which has been all over the place, lol.
"Together again, gee it's good to be together again. I just can't imagine that you've ever been gone. It's not starting over, it's just going on!" ;)
Man, I love that movie! lol
