I think there was a certain charm to the older toys, they were so awkward and slightly creepy, lol, that they were memorable and funny, lol. It's ironic, we always strive to improve ourselves, but then end up losing things along the way. Of course, perhaps that just makes us appreciate them more.
Yeah exactly I think people often reject something because the results aren't perfect. But the fact is, nothing is ever perfect. It's still better to try (though make it an informed try!). ;)
I think South Park sort of made fun of that in one episode where the guidance counselor's whole speech...
I would love to have taken that class, lol! But anyway, I think it probably depends on the person. Some will understand and get the message, while others will feel more rebellious and be more drawn to the forbidden act. We all don't react to the same things in the same way.
One critique I do...
More on PSAs, I've heard from various places that the reason you don't see them much anymore is because it was decided they weren't making the impact hoped for (particularly the drug issue). I understand that they need to spend their money in the right places. But in a way, I think it's a shame...
Well it's sort like how he seemed to approach his performing. Either you really go for it, being silly, or in this case truly heartfelt, or you don't. Anything half way won't do it justice.
I agree, that seemed to make it more personal. And often one of the hardest things for anyone to do in...
Well not to get too sad here but yeah you probably wouldn't realize it if you didn't know already. But once you do, it does end up making a lot of sense. The way he's talking about celebrating the life that God shares with us (as in, it's given to us, it's a gift that we are fortunate to have...
Ohh yay! I saw that PSA at The Paley Center once (formerly The Museum of TV and Radio)! Definitely puts to rest the whole Veggie controversy (at least it ought to, lol). There's also a clip somewhere of Jim talking about having recently done that commercial to make up for all the cookies they'd...
I agree, MTM had a similar plot to TMM, but was different enough to stake its own territory. And the plot of "young kids saving the show" has been around for years (back to Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland for instance) and won't go away any time soon. So I'm fine with it.
I loved all of those! But it is amazing how often they changed jingles and angles of their advertising. They really knew how to work it. And don't forget the original '70s "You deserve a break today!" And let's not forget to recall the hip and happening Mac Tonight (may he rest in retro peace...
That's really cool, I might consider buying it at some point. I wish they would put out the UK version on Amazon as well. The Captain segements were sometimes even deeper than the US/Canadian versions (if that were possible!)
Lol, nay it's great and useful to learn these things, it's the last time you'll really hae the opportunity (and time!). It's just that these issues are always so complex!
I think what it also shows is, it's not about wondering why bad things happen in the world. It's about wondering, what can...
I don't really know who did the Cotton commercials, though it could have been him. I do agree I didn't like his new rendition of "I Don't Want to Live on the Moon." Not because he was bad so much, but because I didn't think it needed to be done over. But as far as the Cotton commercials, I adore...
I'm really sorry that's been happening. We all go through periods where it feels like we have more than our fair share of misery that just won't quit. I try to remember that it's not what happens to us in life, it's how we deal with them. There's also a quote I recently came across that made a...
I think you're absolutely right and hit it on the nail! Fans of Weird Al Yankovic might know about his hero, radio host Dr. Demento. I remember in the Behind the Music show, Dr. Demento said Al has a skill for "puncturing the pomposity of pop music" which he says "does take itself too seriously...
Well, MTM I felt was for a laugh, yes. But then there was the message that he shouldn't have tried to change. But with MFS and other recent projects, for me it felt more like the overall attitude of the film is different. More jaded, cynical attitude like they were too hip and self involved for...
