Disney movies definitely seem to lose something in other languages, especially more recent ones like Pixar -- I watched Finding Nemo in Spanish once and (for example) the sea turtle scene wasn't nearly as funny. It was just a monotone voice speaking the lines rather than the "DUUUDE!" surfer...
There's a network that does that with Friends reruns, in the late-night time slot. I think it's Fox? But as far as I've seen, it's just that one network.
There's an unfortunate stigma attached to being short... when I was doing an internship at a church in college, I couldn't walk (much less work) alongside men of average height or taller without overhearing some elderly person whisper too loudly how cute I was next to them.
All this reminds me of when my sister and I used to make fun of those commercials where they would encourage hard-of-hearing people (mostly targeted at elderly people, by the by) to call for more information on hearing aid options.
This is a cool thread to resurrect. :) It's so hard to pick just one: as a child I would have said Cookie Monster and Ernie. Now I would add Grover, and it's hard not to mention Big Bird, too (Kermit, too, of course, but he's not SS-specific). Having become a serious Muppet and Jim Henson fan...
