Nothing offline for me. I had to do it all online.
I get upholstery foam from a company called TW Foam, who do large quanities of foam (at custom measurements) for a fair price. Just a shame it isn't the proper stuff!
As for fur and things, I like to use ebay - some brilliant sales on Ebay...
it amazes me that you all can manage so many muppet voices - any chance someone can record their voices?
i must confess that i cannot do one muppet voice to save my life - i can do a typical impersonator's attempt at kermit, which is really awful!
all the best with your voices.
I used to love Lambchop as a little person... that bloody song eventually irritated me!
I have a Lambchop's horse friend puppet, (Charli isn't it?) which for some reason, have no idea where it came from or for how long - its just always been there!
My mate has one of those... we washed it a few hundred during a puppet film shoot... after throwing mud at it... it was an icky mess at the end of the day.
Poor dirty-kermit.
Another nagging fellow-puppet-builder-starting-out question; who is your UK supplier for your reticulated foam? At the moment I've been using regular upholstery foam from a custom-cut-foam place.
Labrat, what are you backing your spoon eyes with? Is it a layer of a dark material, with the spoon eye pierced through and attached? Or is the eye rimmed/attached with the stuff?
Nice puppets there matey.
Just realised, you are the same chap, who did a version of "Betrayed" from Mel Brook's musical "The Producers" - which can be found on youtube.
Any chance you have some of your Avenue Q performances?
Do tell me if this is against forum policies or ebay policy, but how much of a return does ebay receive for your auction listing? I was always curious on what they get out of it. Thanks in advance. All the best.
*Another* puppet Labrat?
How fast do you do these things? Or do you do multi-builds at the same time. My turnover is usually one puppet every two weeks - thats IF I even get started! :-p
I am also in the UK and have done endless research for an Antron fleece manufacturer over here and have turned up with nothing. I get it from our lass at GASTAGE - and its superb stuff. Haven't tried out the new antron replacement, I'm still working on using the old stuff! :-p
whatadoodle, I...
Another excellent puppet from Lab-rat. Superb workmanship. Lab-rat you have inspired me so much, I will be making puppets to sell as well. Does the price you get them for compensate for the materials you use?
Reminds me of a far-distant cousin of Seasme Street's Ernie and Avenue Q's Nicky -...
If it isnt too long - then just spend a little on taking the bus as far as possible one morning perhaps and film as is... if its a double-decker (like we have here in England) then do it on the level up.
