You guys have brought back some great memories. I just want to add that any sketch involving either character losing his nose was always hilarious to my five or six year old self. But I think the "Ride 'em cowboy, Bert!" sketch was my favorite... Did anyone else have the storybook based on that...
I just started posting recently and ran into this thread, so I thought I would say hello. My name is Aaron, I'm a recent college grad in Jacksonville, FL and am trying to get some puppet-related stuff going on here in town, and maybe starting a business (to relieve myself of the pain of the...
My girlfriend would never let me live it down if she knew that I burned a copy of ABBA GOLD and have it hidden someplace in my car... Knowing me, knowing you...
I'm a member of the Puppet Guild South Florida group. I agree with Andrew T in that the interface for discussion over at Yahoo! Groups is kind of weird and not as user-friendly as website forums like this.
If you guys will head to YouTube and do a search for "Wilkins Coffee" or "Jim Henson" you will turn up TONS of old Muppet commercials. (I hope I am not breaking some rule by posting this.) The Wilkins ones are great (and one of the puppets looks a little like Kermit) and the LaChoy one is there...
Buck, I have gotten in touch with Puppet Guild members as you suggested. Those guys are a great resource. Thanks!
On another topic, I'm continuing with my puppet building. My first ("trial run") puppet was a dinosaur, and by the time I was ready to plug the eyes in, I realized that I had...
If they end up doing a new show, are they completely married to the variety show format? Why retread what they've already done -- why not do a Columbo or Magnum PI type of show, where Kermit is a private eye and Piggy is his secretary, and Fozzie and Gonzo are his goofy assistants... Or the show...
I wasn't posting a year ago, so I didn't chime in then, but I gotta say I didn't like the movie on TV. I didn't even get thru the whole thing. I don't have any great desire to seek it out on DVD.
I think what isn't there (or in any of the newer Muppet stuff) is the same thing missing from new...
Hey guys -- wanted to update everyone with a link to my website, which is here. It's not too, too extensive (and some of it is a little heavy on the Photoshop tricks -- hey, I was in college, whadaya want) but it has some of my pro cartooning stuff. No puppets though... So can I see samples of...
Puppetise, these look better than mine, and I'm ten years your senior, so I wouldn't sweat it. If your stuff looks this good now, you'll be in high demand by the time you're out of school. I'll say this, as far as eBay goes: presentation sometimes counts for a lot, regarding whether something...
Thanks, Buck. I'd seen that site before but I will seek out David Goboff based on your recommendation.
I'll post some images later this week of the puppets we've started with. We're using scraps of materials just to get a feel for how to do everything right now. Lots of trial and error...
Looks nice! The mouth is always the tough part for me on these things. I get the design and sculpt and everything looking good, and then when I do the mouth, it never looks like I want it to. Thanks for posting the images.
Hey -- I liked it, but I agree with some comments above about the colorful language. I'm no @#*!! saint but the profanity seems like it was thrown in there to make it sound more "adult."
Also, I gotta say I like the puppet designs better than the illustrations on the site -- though the...
Wow! I'm going up there in a couple months! ZNS, it looks like most of their exhibits stay up for about a year so you should have plenty of time, I would think.
Hey, guys, this thread is kind of old, but I'm a cartoonist and am just getting into puppet building. I can't post my URL yet since I don't have enough posts under my belt, apparently. But trust me -- it's good stuff!!! ;-)
