Honestly, I don't build the puppets this way -- I build them out of foam and leave the inside "Raw," and just slip the glove on before "showtime." The sweat doesn't really bug me -- I don't find it too much worse than doing yardwork or something while wearing work gloves. Nobody who helps me out...
Long, long ago I posted a dinosaur puppet I built. I have re-built him and want the world to see. I am a big fan of the more "minimalist" puppets so I went that direction. Here's the drawing I did:

And here's how Spike turned out...
I will give that a shot, thanks... I think maybe I screwed up by trying to make the beak and the cheeks sort of the same thing. Maybe I'll post a drawing so other people can chime in and give me advice.
Can you share with me how you got it? I tried building a bird about a year ago and finally threw it away in frustration. I could not get the beak to work. Now I'm having the same problem with a Triceratops.
I think you should have Mumm-Ra from the Thundercats ask the emperor how he keeps his skin looking so young.
I like both puppet concepts. The Emperor puppet looks great. Did you ever build the newscaster?
I do everything last minute. I work better under pressure. Or maybe that's just what I've convinced myself so I have a good excuse for procrastination...
Very nice puppets! I'm impressed!
Isn't it strange how we get roped into things? A grocery store chain somehow found me and I ended up designing a mascot character for them, and a whole slew of "supporting characters." Turned into quite a bit of work and paid enough for me to take a two week...
Yahnke -- I've never built from a pattern, only from my own drawings. I've gone thru 4 completed puppets -- the first one I trashed, the 2nd one is useless, the 3rd one I gave to a friend, and the 4th one is starting to look halfway decent. Including the "one-time" expenses (breathing mask, work...
Okay, Muppet Central forum -- I need your help yet again. I have been hired for a pretty awesome job; in order to not embarass myself, I need to know if anyone can point me in the direction of someplace (like a national chain) that does large-format scanning (like 11 by 14). Scanning it on my...
I'm working on starting a business towards the end of this year. The day-to-day corporate office job is nice and reliable but no way to live life. I gotta get out of there.
My Dad is a freelance artist and he tells me to expect a good 2 to 3 years of hardship and struggling until you start to...
I gotta say, that Big Bird looks amazing. I just tried to stick four feathers into the head of a bird I'm building and it drove me nuts. You are a better man that I!
I'm a freelance illustrator and a puppet-builder, but the "technical" aspects of building puppets always trip me up. I am a fairly good performer, though, and getting better at it. I'd better be since we're starting a business soon! Kids can be ruthless!
Very nice stuff! I had to temporarily suspend building my puppets... A posting here a few weeks ago convinced me that I was giving myself cancer by breathing in the contact cement fumes. So until I find a workshop, I am living vicariously thru the puppets of others. Keep it up!
I hate to say this here but maybe they just need to (GASP) retire the classic Muppets. After all -- when was the last time Bugs Bunny or Mickey Mouse was in an enjoyable cartoon?
It is impossible that new Muppet projects will be imbued with the same quality as the "golden age" Muppet stuff...
Wow, a friend of mine (who is a 27 year old grown, married man) has a weird crush on Brandy.
Should I not have admitted that on a message board in front of everyone?
Oh well!
