I have a question about that then. Why did John Tartaigola perform Ernie on Play With Me Sesame then? If Steve is still the official performer of Ernie, wasn't he availabe for season two of that show. What's the deal there?
Yeah, it did look like an 80s Big Bird in that clip though. I thought around 1971, Big Bird would have had more of an early Big Bird look, but I guess it's possible.
Yeah, they showed a clip of that one on the 20th anniversary special and it seemed like it was later than 1971. I don't remember the actual clip itself though.
*Out of character* O.K., I see now. Thanks count.
*Back in character* :sing: Hey, how do you guys like this new Christmas ornament I got for Janice. (shows everyone an ornament displaying a group of kittens) The Count sort of gave me that idea.
Actually, I saw the episode with the apple tree song recently and I'm sort of curious about that. I don't remember it from when I was little, but I do think that was Jim's Ernie and Richard's Gladys at the end. Does anyone know how old that sketch was? I'm guessing it came out some time in...
Hmmm. I think that one's a little different. I think Don Music is the Guy Smiley puppet rigged up so it looks like a different character. Same thing with Fat Blue and Simon Soundman.
(Out of character - Wait a minute. I'm a little confused. Count are you still playing The Count or are you playing Garfield now. After all, I had Floyd go with him, so I don't know if he went with the cat or the Count. Can someone please clear that up? Thanks.)
Actually, on Muppets Tonight, Pepe was usually seen with his sidekick Seymour the Elephant and they were the elevator operators. I guess he started to become his own character either in Muppets from Space or in Long John Silvers commercials.
I might as well go with you guys. I can think of some stuff I need. Also, (whispers so nobody else at the party hears) I still need to find a gift for Janice.
Yeah, I knew the Grouchkateers came first. I remember them from when I was little and the Birkateers came a few years later. I have seen the Birdkateers in recent episodes, but I haven't seen too much of the Grouchkateers lately.
I was wondering about that too. I know it's at the Lyrics Archive and I've heard it on Muppet Central Radio and on the Sesame Street Memories thing. I don't know if it's available anywhere else though. It seems like songs with Steve's Ernie are not as easy to find as songs with the classic...
Hmmm. I remember the first part of that sketch. I think they might have eventually stopped playing the rest of that because they thought it might have been too scary for kids, but I definately remember seeing a bald Bert.
