Yeah, but that's not a review. That's the usual far right wing "They're coming to get you Barbara" paranoia they use to scare their base.
And perfectly unresearched as well.
And the far right is far from being able to talk about "alienating audiences" and having politics as a reason a movie...
I heard Dreamworks is coming up with it's own comics publishing imprint, but it won't touch Ape's Dreamworks license.
If I were DW, I'd pull it and keep it like Disney did with Boom. Then we'd actually see Penguins of Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda regularly.
Meanwhile, I don't know what's...
While I have to complain about the lack of Muppet Merchandise, though they did do much better this time... Peabody and Sherman's merchandising is like this... a couple kid's novelizations, a Happy Meal promotion, those two DVD's, and the only toy related merchandise outside of the kid's meals...
Yes, but Frozen was a huge thing beloved by girls and boys alike. It got great reviews and managed to break out of the princess ghetto that kept Princess and the Frog and Tangled from getting the massive family audience they were going for. I mean, Princess and the Frog was losing to Chipmunks...
While it puts things into perspective and all, the fact that it fell almost 10 million short of expectations still makes things look bleak, especially since the last film made most of its money here rather than overseas.
But yes, these smaller franchises do matter and can make money that...
Yes, but by that logic the first one should have done even worse, and we wouldn't have had this second one. The only thing I'll fault Disney on is not bothering to release the rest of the show on DVD. They tried much harder to make a presence. It lost to a film that was only marketed 2 weeks...
I hate double posting, but...
I'd agree with you if there wasn't a movie 3 years before hand. Remember what kid movie competition this film had. Peabody and Sherman: An even less accessible cartoon series that's over 60 years old, and a backup segment. And it had 3 high level flops with the...
You have a point, but...
While there could have been an opportunity to make a larger chunk of money on opening weekend, and while there can be a chance of word of mouth perking this film up in weeks to come... well, it managed to miss a measly 3 million of it's already low second estimate and...
Trying very hard to not be passive aggressive about the competition, but even if the Muppets came in at number one with 80 million dollars, Divergent would still suck.
I agree. The film needed no marketing because it's all hype on a series of books that, frankly I've never heard of. Twilight...
Qubo had one. It does have some nice programs it refuses to air during the day, like Class of the Titans, and Archie's Weird Mysteries. it's a licensing thing, I guess.... they probably lost the Classic Media license. There's no excuse why they can't show older DIC stuff... but that's besides...
Disregarding its flaws, VMX is still a pretty good film with a nice heart behind it. NBC's forced vertical product integration aside, there isn't anything really that bad. It's just the non-stop, rapid fire thing was something that was perfect for it's period.
But again, Disaster Movie...
Getting barely a million more doesn't sound to promising. The only real silver lining is that we actually got this movie and the last film didn't pull a Looney Tunes Back in Action and end the franchise on the big comeback feature. And trust me... I'm pretty crestfallen that audiences didn't...
Wait...
Didn't they announce 17 million earlier Sunday? I'm confused.
Still, it should have at least managed to get to 20. This is very bleak for us Muppet fans. I'm not holding out any hope for much more.
Okay... how is the movie doing so poorly if it sold out in certain theaters?
Is Dominic Badguy bribing audiences to see Divergent?!? :sigh:
Edit: Ugh... I take that comment back. it wasn't that funny.
Anyway, glad to know that one theater was packed for 3 showings. Mine wasn't really...
I'll agree that there really shouldn't be a competition, but in terms of film making, The Muppets had some problems in the department of pacing and editing and trying to fit too many things into one movie's time frame, where as MMW is more compact and smooth as a film. So in that context, it's...
Headdesk... That's much better? is that still the "we aren't counting Sunday because we're impatient" number, or did it only get .5 million over Sunday? Either way, the fact it didn't even nudge up to 20 mil (the lowest number they'd expect for it to be considered successful enough, and almost...
Dude, I was WAITING for someone to say that. Literally, just waiting. That was the first huge laugh I belted out in the movie. Great reference.
We would also remember it as being referenced by Animaniacs ("Chess is foreign to us") and Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey.
Anyone who knows Muppet films knows that the movies have always played with movie cliches. TMM and FTB- Road pictures, GMC- 1940's musicals and caper films, MTM-the Broadway "Star is Born" picture (but with a more 1980's indie-ish picture feel), The Muppets- the getting the band back together...
