Weekly Box Office and Film Discussion Thread

I can attest to what they were trying to go for, an homage to 1980's kid's movies with the discovered footage style of Cloverfield or that one with the super powered teens that I can't remember the name of. But it seems that they execution is sloppy and the homages come off as ripping off...

The Worst CGI Kid Films In Recent Memory

When I posted on this thread, I forgot about how horrible this image was... All I can think of is that poor little girl in the lower left hand corner with a pimple where her nose should be. Oh... that is her nose. I reiterate...those characters would be ugly if they were drawn. There's a...

The Worst CGI Kid Films In Recent Memory

The only kind thing I can say about Planes 2 is at least the tired underdog racing plotline is gone. Cars had a race for its plotline, but it wasn't the main focus, even Cars 2's racing plot was supplemental. So basically they trade the banal racing "you can be anything no matter how...

Why did MFS and EIG bomb so bad?

While I don't usually care one way or the other about putting as many characters possible into a scene, MFS opens with a promise it can't really keep. As I've said a million times, sure we have the Brick House number and the Jacuzzi party, but it's like 90% of the Muppets leave after breakfast...

The Worst CGI Kid Films In Recent Memory

Definitely, but on the less horrible than Food Fight side of the scale. There's not too much worse than Food Fight. Legends of Oz has a Ken Visleman level of complete and utter obliviousness to it. They promoted the heck out of it, it got a comic book prequel series and merchandising, and NO...

Weekly Box Office and Film Discussion Thread

You're right. Oz looked cheap. I'm sure most of that budget went to paying the actors. They didn't even bother marketing the B listers doing the voice work... or did they, because I totally forget. It looked like one of those cheap RedBox DTV filler movies, if anything. Not even close to...

Weekly Box Office and Film Discussion Thread

Dragons may have been a disappointment (I blame bad timing), but the shockingly bad box office for the Wizard of Oz movie is... okay, take back shocking.... HILARIOUS... it did hilariously bad, got terrible reviews, and I found this nugget on TVTROPES: Pa...the...tic. They've resorted to...

Girl Meets World Officially Picked Up

Man, I never really liked that show anyway, and it still sounds like a waste. These tweencoms are so incredibly interchangeable, not to mention factory cranked out. And before anyone says anything, I never liked Saved by the Bell either.

"Peanuts" movie in development for November 2015 release

We're talking about a franchise owned by a very protective family. They only recently licensed out new comic book stories of the characters (after having to make TV specials out of cobbled together comic strips), and they're very high quality. They must be under heavy scrutiny from the Peanuts...

Speculation: Sesame Street 45th Anniversary Possibilities

We honestly deserve another series of Sesame Street Pez at least. Shame we'll never see them, though. But there just has to be some surprise collectibles somewhere in consideration.

Why did MFS and EIG bomb so bad?

Preschool character based movies never tend to do well, for obvious reasons... kids the film appeals to would be too young for a proper movie going experience, and the fact that the parents probably wouldn't want to sit for 90 minutes watching said characters or keeping their kids in check...

    When you need to rant...

Me for 10 years. I've had such terrible luck with this, and it's ripped my life apart. I love how everyone has to start at the bottom of the bottom, forcing everyone...even college graduates to essentially fight to the death over terrible jobs that are low paying pieces of crap no one wants...

    Why isn't Skeeter a Muppet?

If anyone knows 80's cartoons like I know 80's cartoons, there always had to be a sporty kid. Group of kids type shows always recycled the same character tropes, and this carried well into the series Arthur, a cartoon that premiered in 96. The difference is that in a good cartoon, these tropes...

Michael Bay's Ninja Turtles: RIP TMNT 1985-2014

I am, only for Will Arnett as Vernon. Like I said, they got one thing right.

Michael Bay's Ninja Turtles: RIP TMNT 1985-2014

Yogi Bear doesn't take much. At least they got the animated characters right. But they went for such a cliche storm of a plot with a bored actor slogging his way through Ranger Smith and an equally uninteresting Mary Sue romantic plot tumor. I mean, you want romance in a Yogi Bear movie...

Michael Bay's Ninja Turtles: RIP TMNT 1985-2014

They really should have had Mark Evanier write the script for those. He's the definitive Garfield writer, I feel. But yeah. That whole genre of boring, pasted on CGI character kids movies with weak, personality devoid human actors trying to get some Family Friendly... those are just the...

The perfect tv series for Oscar the Grouch?

Quincy. There's a LOT of yelling and arguing in it.

    Muppet FREAKING Go-Gurt!

Yeah, but back then, there were only like 2 major Muppet figures, the other being Kermit. Unless you want to count the various commercial characters. Not to mention the fact Jim Henson's been gone for years, and Rowlf only started to be let back into the franchise with dialogue just recently.

    Television Renewals and Cancellations 2014

I'd almost rather Dan Harmon focus all his energy on Rick and Morty, and ensuring that gets another season ASAP. After all, Adult Swim can rerun a single season for years before a show gets new episodes (though in the case of Venture Brothers, it's self inflicted).

    The Funny Videoe Thread

UGH! Can someone fix my almost out of character typo? Seriously... in cases of unintentionally funny, Retro Winnipeg is a goldmine! Here's an offer to get free Kubasa (kielbasa) with ice skates! (I think I shared this one once) Yeah... that was a legitimate promotion. Here's a terribly...
