The humor seems a tad corny, but the songs seem fine too (especially what seems to be the theme song at the end of the video, which has a lot of great meta lines).
I have noticed an increase in songs during the street stories in the past few years. However, I'd rather one big song than them doing the same song over and over during the episode (the knights one, the happy scientists one)
If anyone can, I would highly recommend going to the exhibit. There's lots of cool stuff to see (for example: a pre-email "email" regarding "Me Going to Munch You, Munch You, Munch You") and the puppets look great. Plus, Honker photo booth (not really a booth, but the camera thing is covered...
I'm giving SW the benefit of the doubt when it comes to their budget. Unlike the past two seasons, this season has no repeats among the main 26 episodes. They also did a bunch of new Crumby Pictures and SG 2.0, I think two new ETM was all they could afford. This show has a crazy amount of...
I certainly found it unnecessary. If SW wants go keep production costs down, they sure ain't doing a good job at it doing things like this.
And I agree; they didn't size down Bert at the end. Foolish editors.
I do like how the episodes have been committing to a theme for the episode and having run throughout - chickens, bikes and pride.
I'm also glad they got rid of that stupid "cube spin over the sidewalk" transition. Drove me nuts how often they'd use it.
1. The song was actually done by an AM boy voiced by Matt Vogel and a bunch of other AMs as well; it's called "Spanish Me, English Me."
2. Yes, this was the first ETM with Ryan. They only filmed two for this season, unfortunately.
They've filming at a different frame rate since season 43, which is why it has a "film" look to it. It also might be the editing software they're using too/how their exporting the shows. The clips and everything look better online, but for some reason, they look odder on TV. I don't know why. I...
Also, if you kept a sharp eye on the CGI city, Forgetful Jones walked through the park at one point.
EDIT: Fun fact thing - some of the people used in the CGI city were from the ETM Repair Monster bit, which was shown later in the episode. "Fun" Fact!
It seems weird that all of Ernie's speaking parts were dubbed over by whoever did the final version. There's no way they could've gotten a recording from Steve? It slightly bothers me, but I guess I'll live with it. But, it's hard to have an E&B rapport when only one half can do the talking.
There's some format changes you may notice in the episode, aside from the new letter/number songs. The editing on it is a little...bad and sometimes a tad confusing.
