Very well said, no "high horse" necessary.
I don't think they'll stop putting their stuff on YouTube. As I had posted before, those viral views are essential to them these days and from an all-around standpoint, it would be foolish to give that up.
Did they also tell you when the season is supposed to start? I'm assuming that since the hour-long shows are dropped on Nov 16, the new season starts then too.
They kind of already do - Sesame Street GO. It's pretty much what you said though - mainly recent stuff with a couple dozen classic...
Here's another article giving more detail as to why SW made this move:

Dwindling DVD sales really explains why everyone of their DVDs this year as been Elmo-centric.
You're pretty much saying the opposite of what I said. ASIDE from celebrity and bits with the count, there's only:
Elmo and Abby's "Two is You and Me" cover
and those 2 Two-Headed Monster bits
I think we need to make one thing clear here:
SESAME STREET IS NOT LEAVING PBS.
New episodes are simply premiering on HBO first, then a little while later on PBS. That's all. People without HBO will still get to see the new shows. Kids probably won't care/notice if the shows are new or not...
Question: Nothing is really said in the articles about HBO that they'll be carrying the show as a 30-minute program. Is it too much to assume that HBO will air the show as 60-minutes, while PBS will shorten it to 30?
Netflix is popular and money-making enough that it can afford to do that. I don't think ratings is something that applies to it. Views probably, if they can track those things.
I'm sure everyone will get to see the new stuff on YouTube.
This isn't immediately affecting me because, as I said, I can see these new shows as they air. I'm sorry about people who can't access it; that's one of the things that's a negative point on this for me.
PBS isn't dropping Sesame Street. Here's the laymens turns of it all:
SW will be making new stuff for HBO. PBS will get it after a 9-month period. And PBS is getting it free of charge, as all the production costs, etc. are being footed by HBO.
While I still stewing on whether this is...

(Thankfully, I have my friend's HBO Go login, so sorry all those who have to wait)
