I have many conflicting feelings about Will & Grace. I like Sean Hays, but feel he should have been held back a little from his antics on the show. At times he was the (dare I say it) gay equivalent of "Sambo". I very much enjoyed Karen and Grace. Funny, huh? I enjoyed the female characters the...
We should remember that Jim Henson was selling the Muppets to Disney before he died. I know there was much fall-out after he passed, but he really dug the idea of the Muppets being under the Disney banner. Of course he would have had some say in the projects.
I also feel the Muppets had lost...
Gays and Christians = Biggest Muppet Fans
I have always noticed the spiked popularity of the Muppets within both the gay and christian communities. That's what I find so cool is that the Muppets seem to connect with many people and bring them together in at least one way. ;)
Anybody else...
I always felt that (like the Muppets Take Manhattan wedding) Gonzo's origins were just to be considered a movie experience. Dave Goelz confirmed his support for Gonzo's Muppets From Space origins when he spoke at the San Francisco Muppets 101 lecture over the summer. It kind of bummed me out. I...
An aquaintence of mine once stated his distain for the "Muppets' high squeaky voices," of course mistaking them for the Muppet Babies. Sure, as a kid I enjoyed the first couple of seasons, but man...I really don't dig the lower production values. There's no excuse for sub-par animation like that...
Actually, to me the lowest point the Muppets ever sank was in Muppets From Space when Kermit lets out,” Way to get down with your bad selves!" I almost shouted at the screen,” That’s not Kermit!" It was just so cheesy and smacked of trying to hard to be hip - and that was before Disney. That...
The latest Muppet Christmas special was a Henson/NBC production (pre-Disney). Oz was Disney/ABC. Just to clarify that any praise of blame for that particular Christmas project doesn't go to Disney. Personally, I liked the Christmas special and Oz too. They aren't my faves, but definitely pleased...
I heard that originally they were thinking of making these replicas into actual puppets. For some reason that seemed very wrong to me. Cool, but wrong. I just don't feel comfortable with any person with a couple hundred bucks to spare owning and operating a beloved Muppet character. :concern:
I had reservations about these replicas at the beginning. When I received mine, Kermit looked all lifeless and corpse-like in his box. He looks great now, after breaking him in, but not everybody has an eye for that. I have seen some rather...well...upsetting/unflattering photographs of Kermit -...
Thank you for the clarification! The idea of closing an attracton so beloved by fans and non-fans alike didn't sound right to me, but Disney has made some odd moves in the past. I see Muppet Vision as Jim Henson's "swan song" with the Muppets. I hope it never closes.
I do think that Disney...
Thanks!
Thanks for the info!
It is interesting to see how each CD is packaged to be musically self-contained. I like it, though. I wonder if they will use individual cover art for each CD and if so what it will look like? And the liner notes and pictures! This looks like it will be a great...
I feel the Muppets were played as pawns in an internal Disney Co. polical war (a war that had absolutely nothing to do with the Muppets). It appears that some at Disney wanted to axe most of Eisner's ideas - for better or for worse. Now that is over, it will be interesting to see what is will...
Of Muppets and Mole Hills
I admit that some of the comments in this thread could be interpreted as slightly homophobic, but I like to give people (especially MCers) the benefit of the doubt. Nothing said here really raises a red flag for me. ;)
*Also, the speculation of personal lives of...
Eeeek! How un PC of me!
:o I must state that I do not think that all pigs are alike! He he. But they do look similar. I wonder if Howard is related or will make an appearance? (hardly ever get to use the Piggy pic)
It's cool Brian is doing a voice. He does do VanNeuter (the Andy...
I think that is the same pig. I tried to imdb the project but came up with zilch! Does anybody know who will be performing/voicing these characters? I hope Bill Barretta does one (Howard/Bobby Vegan probably if so) and it would be great if Brian Henson performed the other. Don't know if he'd...
