Golden Globes - What's the Point?

What does anyone think of Room (not to be confused with the similarly-named Tommy Wiseau picture), about a woman and her young son released from captivity and experiencing the outside world for the first time? That one also seems slated to win due to its subject matter.

Golden Globes - What's the Point?

Here are the Oscar nominees for the awards this year: http://oscar.go.com/nominees I must say, I am liking the variety of animated features they have here: one CGI, two stop-motion, and two 2D. Though I'm shocked that The Peanuts Movie and The Good Dinosaur were snubbed while Shaun the Sheep...

    RIP Alan Rickman

Died the same age as David Bowie, and from the same disease, too.

The "I'm amazed at how terrible this is" thread

Especially considering the target audience is known for being hard of hearing. You'd think the producers would keep that in mind or at least subtitle the testimonial, but apparently not.

The "I'm amazed at how terrible this is" thread

I don't fully agree with TV Tropes on it being one of the worst, but that horrid audio quality makes it come close.

Pixar: Are the glory days over?

Well, it's really ToonBoom Harmony that's become the industry standard for 2D animation of all kinds, and offers a lot more features that Flash doesn't for traditional animation. It's totally possible to do hand-drawn animation in Flash rather than motion tween everything. It's just that not a...

    The breakfast cereal thread

Anyone remember Team Cheerios, which was first made to promote the '96 Summer Olympics? It was a blend of the Honey Nut, Frosted, and a new brown sugar variety to represent gold, silver, and bronze medals. With the summer games in Rio coming up as well as the cereal's 20th anniversary, now...

Pixar: Are the glory days over?

Though I am liking how more and more CGI films have gone with the next best thing and employed 2D aesthetics and techniques to them, most obviously with The Peanuts Movie. A guy can still hope for a true comeback, can't he? :D Definitely if you're a studio like Video Brinquedo, but certainly...

Arthur - Where is the Show Going?

It's as if years of raising a dysfunctional family while juggling a struggling catering business have finally taken its toll on Mr. Read. :)

    The breakfast cereal thread

I can imagine an episode of the show with UG in one of those ending skits flying in saying "I'm a marbit now." Are you sure they're still doing those commercials with the hand-drawn characters against loads of conspicuous CG? I thought they stopped doing them since the 2000s.

"The Muppets" show runner exits, series to be relaunched February 2 with episodes 11-16

I'm cautiously optimistic about these new changes. A new human antagonist sounds promising and could go either way (as long as they don't Poochie him into the show like they didn't do with Denise), but I am liking more of the focus on the Up Late sketches and the promise of story arcs, as well...

David Bowie dies at age 69

I never knew he was fighting cancer, so this was especially sad. No different from any other year in the past.

    The Gravity Falls Thread

Nice to know that Hirsch is working on something new. But since Fox is behind this, no doubt this new series be aimed at adults. And if so, I hope it's more Bob's Burgers and less Family Guy in terms of content. :concern:

    The Steven Universe thread

More and more, Peridot is starting to get used to the idea of being on the good side, hilariously giving her mixed feelings. And I loved how obsessed she became with shipping fictional characters, which got a meaningful echo near the end when she questioned why Garnet feels so strongly about...

    The "Adventure Time" Thread

It was great seeing one of Jake's pups, Viola, in the limelight, along with working on LSP's play. All that's left is a story focusing on Charlie.

It was really awesome seeing Peridot chew out her boss. And we got lots of great wild takes from her, too. :)

    The Steven Universe thread

Just when you think the Gems and Peridot are warming up to each other, Peri innocently tells them how their conquest of Earth could have done great things for Gemkind and how Rose Quartz's rebellion is futile, which the Gems do not take kindly to. I loved how Steven did everything he could to...
