It would have been an entirely different sort of film with Michael. More Captain EO inspired. It's really Bowie that made that role what it is. He gave it the wonder and eeriness that wasn't necessarily on the page.
I have all 4 issues! Boom took a while sending it but threw in an extra Kermit's Story comic for the trouble. I think they're working out issues with their site. I can relate.:)
So, here's how my review stacks up for the first 4 issues:
Kermit 1. A-
Fozzie 2. B+
Gonzo 3. A
Piggy. 4. A-...
Michael Jackson has been a problematic figure for many reasons, but I like to think of him as the lead in the Jackson 5 and for his revolutionary Off the Wall album. After that he kind of lost me. His passing is very sad indeed. He didn't strike me as a very happy person even with all of his...
...but it is still really freaky. That episode always makes me laugh uncomfortably. :concern:
I temped at a workplace for a brief while and showed my portfolio that included the Palisades Sweetums among other items. The woman who interviewed me said that she liked "that big furry monster guy...
Big Bird was still widely seen as an abstract back then. The age assignment was more of a creative note that had evolved behind the scenes in development of the character to make him relatable to the intended Sesame audience.
Back then there were many viewers who where still confused over...
Pan seems like the storybook comic for my taste. It seems that Amy Mebberson understands how the characters should look and Grace Randolph has a good grasp on Muppetizing a classic story. So barring anything we don't know, this should be a sweet fit. I have already admitted my lack of enthusiasm...
That is a nice Piggy head. It could use a finer longer wig. That MTM hairstyle isn't as easy to pull off without a stylist. She kind of looks like Sherry Lewis Piggy here. Still, nice Piggy head.
The question is if Disney or anyone can cultivate a audience of jaded kids that are so used to junk food television? I'm sure it's possible, but I don't think any company sees incentive in working that hard when they can just create another sure-fire kid-pop brand.
This will undoubtedly mean Fraggley goodness.
I hope they make a real Labyrinth comic with wider appeal than the unattractive manga. Same with Dark Crystal. I hope the hold up on the release schedule with Tokyo Pop is that they've been dumped for Archaia. Their stuff appears to look modern...
Can you believe that Tux versions of Statler and Waldorf with Revised head sculpts were rejected by every retailer they were pitched? The new facial sculpts were never molded, but this was something very much on Palisades' mind and well before the end of the line. I wish we'd done that.
I agree. I feel that Rizzo, if made and priced well, can sell on looks alone. He's not my favorite Muppet, but there will likely be a cool factor.
As a fan I'd like to see Fozzie now, but I can see how a company would see his poser as a punctuation down the line to shake things up. I'm sure...
Very happy! ;) That's Scooter. That's a challenging position for the nose and you nailed it. Oooh, and you went with the shiny jacket rather than the modern one. Good choice.
I really think this should be THE graphic Disney uses for anything Muppet Show. It honors the characters better than...
I agree and wonder how far along they are in their first prototype. Rizzo seems to be the first from what has been stated, but those things can always change. :shifty:
The fact that this line has been snagged up by another company shows that anything can happen. Personally, I think Miss Piggy...
