    Luis and Maria sketch

Here comes the train! Actually, way back in the 50's, Ernie Kovacs did something similar. He had a skit called "Living Pictures", and he hung up a big picture of a tunnel and had a train come through, and a picture of a boat on the ocean and getting splashed by a wave. Just like Jim, Kovacs was...

    Crossover characters from other programmes

some more There was also Lorne Greene, Pernell Roberts, and Michael Landon from Bonanza counting to 20, all dressed up in their Western duds and sitting on horses.

This thread is brought to you by the letter L!

L is for ladder The one that I remember the most (and the longest) was an animated clip of a little guy using a ladder to climb to the top of a capital L. "A ladder is useful for climbing up to a high place." He climbs to the top, but then another guy comes in and swipes the ladder from him...

    why were there three gordons?

Gordon # 4 Actually, the only reason Matt Robinson got to be Gordon first was because Robert Guillame wasn't working out. If you ever see the Sesame Street Biography special that aired in 2001, they were making five test shows in July 1969, and Guillame was cast as Gordon. Then they showed the...

    Boom-Boom-Boom-Boom!

I recognize Big Jeffy, Grover was definitely blue, but exactly what the AM girl Muppet slips my mind. Oh, well. Two out of three ain't bad.

    Oscar's favaorite hiding place.

Wow, you came up with a skit I haven't thought about in DECADES!!! The best I can recall the skit ending, Oscar finally got tired of having Herry look for him, and poked his head out so Herry can find him. Oscar was right behind Herry, but he wouldn't turn around to see him. I think Oscar was...

    Happy Birthday Mokeystar!!!!

Please join me in wishing a most happy birthday to my very best friend in the whole universe, the lovely Mokeystar!!! Earlier this month she came all the way across the country to see me, and we got to spend time bopping around New York City. I especially enjoyed seeing the Brooklyn Bridge...

    Boom-Boom-Boom-Boom!

let's clap way back when, there was a street insert before this segment. One kid was sitting on the stoop clapping, and one by one, all the other members of the cast would come by, sit down, and start clapping as well. that's how they got the strong clapping rhythm going, then it would dissolve...

    First Street Scenes

the Premiere of Don Music The first skit with Don Music wasn't a street scene, but a Muppet News Flash. Kermit was dressed in his trenchcoat and Dick Tracy hat, and he was interviewing Don in his house at the piano. Don was banging his head on the piano in frustration trying to sing Mary Had A...

    Favorite Sleep Sketches

Everybody sleeps Whether it qualifies or not, I loved the "Everybody Sleeps" song. Joe Raposo is/was/always will be awesome. The song has been remade sometime in the last decade or so, but the original footage with the man nodding off while reading in the chair, and ending up on the floor...

A couple of skits with anything muppets

Muppets reading the book My best friend Mokeystar and myself actually looked like the two kid Muppets- herself being quite the Betty Lou lookalike, and I could've passed for the boy with the fuzzy hair and the striped shirt. The best I could remember the story before the music came in at the...

    Buddy and Jim question

The one Wally and Ralph skit that I remember the most is they were sitting at a table trying to play a board game. One of the table's legs was wobbly, and they needed something to prop underneath to hold it steady. They happened to have a brick, but after much deliberating they put the board...

When does Sesame Street come on on your station?

I have one constant in my life, Channel 13, WNET, New York/Newark, that ran Sesame Street from 1969 all the way up to 1986 at 9:00 am. During the summer and winter months, they would alternate the afternoon slot anywhere from 3:00 to as late as 6:00, and in the early 70's virtually all of...

    Dr. Maria

I definitely remember Maria being the surgeon, and Bob was definitely one of her assistants, and the tools she asked for were a wrench, pliers, electric drill, and screwdriver, in that order. And all four of them did manage to squeeze onto the motorcycle at the end (with some of the bigger...

Favorite Sesame human of all time

This is a tough one. When I was little I had a crush on Maria(Sonia Manzano) but a few years back it was great to meet Susan (Loretta Long) in person. It was neat that the Sesame Street human cast was so balanced. No one personality dominated the show, the way Elmo does so with the Muppets now.
