"Today's secret drawing will be a mailman/astronaut/letter M"
The Tale of King...
One of the early Noggin/Unpaved episodes has this one.
But if you can't find it, how would YOU like it to go?
Give your imagination a workout and see what happens. You might surprise yourself.
I hope that something better comes along
I'd like to see that skit too. But til then, I can make do with one of my Sesame Street books. Time/Life put out a series of hardcover books in 1970,
each devoted to a different concept: Letters, Numbers, Shapes, People in Your Neighborhood, etc. etc...
I do remember that the 6 Dollar Man was made out of junk, his head was a bowling ball, and the best part to me was his feet were made out of pancake turners "from a going-out-of-business diner in Passaic". When you're a fanatic of Sesame Street like I was, and they mention a town that's right in...
Anyone remember this one from the mid 70's?
Bob was leaning on the brick wall, and an Anything Muppet voiced by Jim comes along with no face, just a mouth. He expresses to Bob he feels a little blah, and could Bob help him out.
First Bob gives him some angry eyes, with furrowed eyebrows...
me/yo lyrics
To the best of my knowledge, there were a girl Muppet (voiced by Caroly Wilcox, better known as Ernie's right hand, but given a rare vocal showcase of her own) who sang in English and a boy (voiced by Luis) who handled the Spanish verse.
There might be a few words missing...
Cosby on Sesame Street
Bill Cosby also did another skit that day discussing with kids about over and under. He describes his friend driving his car (using hand gestures) over and under, but he gets confused, and the kids keep trying to correct him. The kids are giggling so much at Bill's...
Listen, I know Frank performed Brown Grover quite a bit, but I'll swear on a stack of bibles Jim performed him this time. During the first season, when most of the monsters didn't have distinct personalities yet, there was quite a lot of mix-and-matching going on.
Case-in-point, there was a...
I was 18 months old when Sesame Street premiered, but even at that early age I distinctly remember Brown Grover voiced by Jim demonstrating Near and Far.
That and Mahna Mahna.
James Earl Jones came back
Back in Season One, James Earl Jones was "that bald guy" who looked straight in the camera and recited the alphabet. It was very intense of him, staring at us, never blinking, and I imagine some of us might have been a little spooked by it.
He shaved his head...
yes, indeed, it was David. He seemed to be dressed in an orange outfit with a bowler hat on his head- looks like something out of Alice in Wonderland. He does go through 5 or 6 doors, each one getting smaller, each one saying
OPEN, and David doing the same double-take accompanied by the same...
voice credits
I met Christopher Cerf, and to the best of his recollection, he told me Jerry Nelson, Jeff Moss, and Richard Hunt helped him singing this song. He played the piano and sang on the soundtrack, but Jim did all the puppet work. He says his memory is a little hazy, but then again, how...
DVD release
I think just because of the sheer size of the Sesame Street catalogue, it would be close to impossible to release as a DVD set.
The glut of DVD box sets that are out today focus on shows/sitcoms/dramas that have 13 to 22 shows per season. Easy to package that way.
They could...
This one takes the cake
This was such a neat skit showing the value of sharing, and how Jim and company could even make hands have personalities.
The red hand (I believe) starts by looking over the cake, and deciding he wants it.
Along comes the yellow hand that wants the cake too, and...
I remember!
Yes, Mokeystar, my memory serves me well on this one! It starts out with a circle being drawn, and voiceovers of people trying to guess what it is.
First it was a circle (round eye) with a darker circle drawn inside (the pupil). then it was colored in. Then we add lashes, and we...
near and far- old school
I remember the old Grover when he was green/brown/ or whatever the tint on your old color tv was adjusted to. He was voiced by Jim this time. And this Grover, according to reliable sources, even showed up performing this skit for Johnny Carson. That would've been worth...
Hey Dantecat- if you don't know the answers to some questions...(drum roll please) you can always ....IMAGINE what might happen!!! Call me an old coot, but at least using your imagination was a big part of what made Sesame Street great.
Go ahead, if you dare :D
