Ah, good ol' Korty Films! Korty made a string of short films for Sesame Street in the late 70's starring Thelma Thumb, which were pretty terrific. Definitely worth a peek.
Cartoon Network did show this way back in the days when Mr. Spimm's Cartoon Theatre gave films like this an outlet to be...
Fran Brill is the same way. I met her twice, the first time she asked "You're not one of those ToughPigs people, are you?" When I assured her I wasn't, she relaxed enough and was happy to answer questions, pose for pictures, etc.
One question Muppeteers tend to cringe at (and I wouldn't dare to...
Today marks seven years of being at the same company, and in spite of massive layoffs and cutbacks, still having a job to go to, and a possible promotion. :)
How about you? There must be something that happened that made you glad you got up today.
Let's hear it, and don't be shy.
The former New York City mayor, who had a bit part in Muppets Take Manhattan, passed away at the age of 88. He helped turn New York around back in the 70's after years of decline, and he made as many enemies as he did friends, but he was never boring.
Koch could be a pistol. He came up with...
There was a drawing he did for Life Magazine as a tribute to Jerry. Last December they published their year-end tribute to all the celebrities who died in 2012. And Jerry made the very last page. If I can get my hands on a scanner, I'll post it here.
I was lucky enough to meet Caroll at New...
There's another long-lost bit from around 1973 starring David. Here he plays a baseball catcher named Sluggo (Jerry Nelson narrates) who's about to start playing, but has to put on all his protective gear. Trouble is, he can't remember which body part they go on, so Jerry helps him out.
On go...
The only other thing I noticed was a cat with curly purple hair (her name escapes me at the moment) and Binky seemed to be the inspiration for Wimzie and Horace on Wimzie's House. Just an observation.
I've only seen Arthur once or twice, but the creepy episode I did see, they showed Buster's father as a human with bunny ears. Maybe Buster won't smoke pot, but maybe the atrists who animated him did.
Not exactly sure the year, around 1976. Yes, Maria sang the instructions. No music, but background noises like you'd hear in a restaurant- muffled talking, glasses clinking, etc.
No big scenery either. Shot like many non-street scenes on a blue soundstage, with just two doors, and a few potted...
Back in the early years, David bore the brunt of a lot of slapstick comedy. He got pies in the face, doused with buckets of water, buried in snow, the end is listless.
In an attempt to demonstrate "In" and "Out", David was a waiter, first day on the job. Maria was the boss, and trains David on...
There's a little-known Muppet song, where Jerry's character sings "I say wonderful", and Frank's responds "I say YUCK!", and there are little inserts- one shows two Muppet ladies admiring each other's hats, then behind their back going "BLECCHHHH!!!!"
In another insert Mr. Hooper fixes Oscar a...
Haven't vented my spleen in a while, so I'm way overdue.
I'm grateful to have a job and medical benefits, because there are plenty of people out there who have neither. Still, when you have a question about your benefits, it's a major hassle just trying to get through to a REAL LIVE PERSON...
I know a few of these have leaked out on youtube over the years, but if the music-clearance hassles can ever be overcome, we could have a dandy little DVD here.
Good Morning Starshine
Windy
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds
Help!
Yellow Submarine
The Word (Jim kinda liked the Beatles, didn't he?)...
There was also another series by that name back in 1979- starred Jill Whelan (Captain Stubig's daughter on The Love Boat). Extremely well-written, well-cast, well-directed (Aaron Spelling did himself proud) but bit the dust after only 5 episodes. Too bad. Could've been G.R.E.A.T.
I'm not the biggest moviegoer, but Lincoln was excellent. No CGI, no pyrotechnics, no car chases (no buggy chases either for that matter), no rewriting history, etc. And Daniel Day-Lewis nailed it as Lincoln. He even had a Hensonish spirit about him- telling jokes, offering pearls of wisdom on...
I've been a fan of Peter's for a long time. One of his most underrated roles, way back in 1995 was Skye on The Puzzle Place. The whole show was nice to give a bunch of Muppeteers who did a lot of support work on Sesame Street a chance to really shine.
