    Questions about anything

There was an old Casper cartoon "Casper's Spree Under the Sea". Following the formula of all his cartoons, Casper tries making friends, but ends up scaring them away. Depressed with his friendless status, Casper actually tries to end it all by tying a rope around himself, the other end to a...

In Memory of Conrad Bain (February 4, 1923- January 14, 2013)

I remember him as far back as being the wacky Dr. Arthur Harmon on "Maude". What a generation the grown-ups from the 70's were. Everyone drinking and smoking like it's going out of style, and the good Doc prescribing tranquilizers for everyone. And all the men parading around in plaid pants...

    When you need to rant...

But isn't it nice you can get the commercial-free DVD box sets? Usually the library has them.... for free.

TV shows you wish would come back

A shout-out to Capitol Critters. 13 episodes produced, only 7 aired before they pulled the plug. A noble attempt to put cartoons back on Network Prime-Time, and getting a few digs in at the elder Bush's administration. Hard to believe this series is now old enough to buy beer! (PHEW!)

TV shows you wish would come back

At least for old geezers like me there's always something to be found on Antenna TV (which is what Nick at Nite and TVLand USED to be). But if any of you REALLY want to dig into ancient history: The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour Chico and the Man Welcome Back, Kotter Gumby ( back in 1956, Art...

    Trump

Sad to say he comes off as an arrogant, overbearing bore. The only decent thing to come out of a decade of "The Apprentice" was in 2010 Brett Michaels winning and increasing awareness for diabetics like me. Other than that- a bunch of B-list celebrities making buffoons of themselves... haven't...

    The Joe Raposo Appreciation Thread

He wrote "Three's Company". Probably one of his greatest talents with Sesame Street was all the animal clips he scored. He would get shown about 30 seconds of silent footage of aardvarks, giraffes, pelicans, seahorses, or what have you, and within an hour he had a score ready. And in the early...

    The Joe Raposo Appreciation Thread

Joe was a truly gifted composer, arranger, musician, singer, he had the total package. And he had a great bunch of sidemen to bring his musical dreams to life. It's just too bad that from so many people who knew him, while praising his musicianship, they saw a darker side to him- on one side he...

    RIP Jim Boyd

Jim Boyd, the actor who gave us J. Arthur Crank and the Blue Beetle on the original Electric Company, passed away January 2. The New York Times just got around to posting his obituary. (SIGH!!!) :(

    The Adults and Snuffy

It's too bad Mr. Hooper never got to see Snuffy. The closest he came once Snuffy passed by the store, Hooper lost his glasses. The nearly-blind Hooper thought Snuffy's trunk was Maria's fur coat. But Snuffy was real to the kids. Once a whole bunch of them got to play London Bridge with him...

    The Adults and Snuffy

I found it disheartening too that the adults were too quick to dismiss Snuffy. Gordon's first line from the very first show: "You'll love Sesame Street, Sally. EVERYTHING happens here!" But apparently the idea of Big Bird's "imaginary" friend lay outside the realm of "everything". Could...

Has Anyone Won Anything On The Radio?

We have a Christian radio station (Star 99.1) and my wife won us tickets to a fantastic one-man play called King David. Tells of David's dramatic rise and fall. Great stuff.

    Favorite Ernie and Bert sketches

Just about all my favorites were from Season 1 (I loved Ernie's shirt). A lot of them have been posted on youtube for your viewing pleasure. But a few really stand out: Ernie, the World's Greatest Counter, finally counts to 10 after many distractions (and torturing Bert in the process), and...

    A Word of Thanks

Well, we made it through another Doomsday none the worse for wear :) I would like to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for making this a happy year for me. After spending 2011 in and out of hospitals and in a haze of depression, it was really nice to be welcomed back here in 2012...
