With respect to the fans here, I disliked the Spice Girls with a fiery passion. In 1997, when all the other sixth-grade girls at my school were listening to them, I was listening to ELP and the Moody Blues.
I think that's when I started to really distrust people who told you that you should...
(Janice voice) Again??? (normal voice) That's the second time I've done that. Blame it on academic stress...and the fact that I'm due for an eye exam in a bit.
You're right, Carrie (yes, I do mean you this time); it shouldn't be too hard to keep Richard at the top of the fan club hill...even...
It's not extreme at all, Carrie. I don't give specifics about where I live or go to school over the net, myself.
Better get posting, guys. There's another Steve Whitmire fan club forming up in this part of the forum. Need to keep Richard on top of the heap, after all!
I know, it's really creepy...everyone here's been talking about it all day. In fact, some of the students are wondering how it would play out if it happened at our school. You think the victims are so far away from you...but on camera, they're talking about the RAs and the residence halls and...
Either way, he's got a better aim than I do. Not to mention a higher tolerance for sore shoulders.
Sometimes, I have this funny mental image of the Muppeteers all working in the trenches...and then walking out of the studio at the end of the day each with one arm still up in the air.
I had one a few nights ago, in which I was on the set of a latter-day (prob. late 80s-early 90s) Muppet production, and I was watching Richard and his niece Amanda down in the trenches. The two of them were performing Scooter and Skeeter (grown-up versions of both), I think having them sing...
Reminds me of Chapter 8 of Of Muppets and Men, page 146: "It is Richard's special gift that he can work with other people's puppets, can summon them to life. His Kermit voice is a close approximation of Jim's, and the kids' belief in Kermit is total. They seem to forget that Richard is there."...
Same for me. Organized sports take all the fun out of shooting hoops and kicking soccer balls.
I think in one of the other TMS popups, Richard is quoted as saying that it takes a lot of skill to be able to show emotions with one hand wrapped in several layers of foam rubber.
Yeah, I remember how we were reporting on some really controversial issues going on in the SGA not too long ago, and rumor has it that the president had the papers taken off of our more public newsstands on a day when a lot of would-be students and their parents would be visiting the campus...
That's true. Journalism's a risky business, and it gets riskier everyday. But it's important. And it's a sad day when people twist the facts and pass it off as front-page news, and give real reporters a bad name.
And we've had a poor relationship with the PR people for years - guess it's...
MN: (sinks down into sofa) Another long day and night.
Storyteller: Ah, cheer up, it's Wednesday. Weekend's not far away.
MN: Neither are the deadlines.
Nora: And I've just been saddled with a huge paper on the writers of the Lost Generation. Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Stein...all the big names...
That's right; Jane raised him and four other kids, so she's well aware of what his favorite childhood hobbies were.
And about not believing everything you read: the PR people here at this school have this nasty habit of glamorizing and switching about facts in the press releases. It's a bit...
Yeah, and in one of my journalism classes, the prof told us that public relations people often make quotes and stuff up. With the subject's permission of course, but as a rule we don't rely on press releases as primary sources. Besides: are you really gonna believe some hokey press release over...
I know; that's why funerals and memorials are more often called "Celebrations of Life." The deceased isn't gone; he or she is just in a different place.
And while we're on the subject of death and dying...for one of my classes, I eventually have to write a story on the theme of dying, and I'm...
(singing) "Carry on...carry on...never mind feeling sorry for yourself...it doesn't save you from your troubled mind..." Thank you, Mr. Taylor.
Yeah, it's probably something to do with Richard dying at a fairly young age, and from the mother of all killer diseases. And I think that's part of...
Very true. And I think some psychologist would have a field day with some of our dreams. As for the book, it might have been a diary or something. And the episode about Travis sounds like it'd have been a tear-jerker for all concerned.
Come to think of it, not too long ago I dreamed that I saw...
Hmm...well, there was that moment with Miss Piggy sharing a sauna with Rudolf Nureyev...and Miss Piggy singing "How High the Moon" with Roger Moore...
On a decidedly tamer level, when Lynda Carter appeared on the show, at one point during "Orange-Colored Sky," she picked Scooter up and gave...
Storyteller: Was that Erin I saw collapsing on the sofa, clutching her head?
Nora: Yeah, the profs are really starting to pile on the major projects.
Storyteller: Oh, oh...let me guess, Erin, you've got a tension headache.
MN: Are you kidding, I've had a tension headache for the last three...
Oh, man, I haven't seen enough sensual moments on TMS to make a valid judgment...but I think Linda singing "I've Got a Crush On You" to Kermit ranks up there somewhere.
