Well, that's okay. I'd hate to see Scooter get into serious trouble with Sara, after all.
So you'd add more conversation...so what's Nora going to reveal? That she'd had a crush on him for years but didn't know how to best tell him?
"I don't think I can do this..."
"Ah, shut up and go for it!"
(chuckle) Yes, another pearl of wisdom from the great Richard Hunt.
I think telling the others that before you got started was a good way to break the ice. If people are tense, they can't concentrate as well.
Excellent, heralde, excellent. And it is interesting that you had everyone read a portion of the speech. Did the discussions touch on any particular aspect of the speech, or did you and the others discuss the speech in general?
I agree; I'll bet Richard was feeling a tad nervous before he...
Storyteller: You coming, Erin?
Erin: (sighs) I'd like to, but I've got some homework tonight. Give my regards to Jerry, okay?
Beige: Oh, no you don't. Bring your books or your computer out onto the deck.
Erin: (pause) Okay, you talked me into it. (gets up, packs away laptop and heads out with it...
Oh, Nora, you took your corsage off on purpose and you know it! (laughs softly) But she just wanted to take one last dance with Scooter, so there you go.
And I like how Catherine and I subtly moved in our chairs to keep Sara from noticing - that's exactly what I would have done in real life...
Oh, yes, I remember that one. And I love the photo used to end it - the aforementioned (and much gushed-over) photo of Richard (wearing his gray newsboy cap) and Scooter. Like I said, there really does seem to be a resemblance between Muppet and Muppet performer there; I remember seeing that...
Hmm, I don't know - I think the guys at Tough Pigs have issues with threads dedicated entirely to one Muppet performer. Something to do with trivializing the Muppet forum or something. (shades of Sam the Eagle, anyone?) It had to do with their objection to Sylinde posting the audio clips of...
Nora: Don't worry, Kathy - we're going casual tonight.
(shrieking from the woods)
Erin: Uh-oh, don't tell me Don's back.
(a group of tiny dragons, made of silver-blue sparks, zoom out of the woods and fly around the garden several times before exploding in bursts of orange)
Scooter: Those were...
Storyteller: Mmm...nice night to keep the party going.
Nora: I know, it's nice and cool with a full moon.
Erin: Hope somebody's keeping an eye on Alex tonight.
Scooter: (coming outside with a box) Who wants a moon cake?
Beige: A moon cake?
Scooter: Yeah, they've got a table of them outside the...
Hmm, the link doesn't seem to be working, Marianne.
Yes, Claudia...a great many fans happen to be fond of Richard's smile. Even if the photo editors at some magazines went in and airbrushed out the famous gap. (Some of us speculated that he'd had some kind of work done on it - but Amanda told...
Well, I just had a chat with my mother the doctor, and she said it was quite likely. A large number of AIDS patients do in fact get eye infections, because their immune systems are much more vulnerable. It's one of the neurological side effects.
But as we've said time and time again, that...
Oh dear...that is rather shocking.
I honestly don't know what to make of it. I mean, it is possible, in a person with a weakened immune system, for an eye infection to get really bad...but on the other hand, that person is claiming to repeat what someone else told him or her. Then again...it...
That's true. Richard probably reflected quite a few times on what he'd miss - working on new Muppet projects, watching his nieces and nephews grow up - but he was aware of all that he had done.
I mean, he joined the Muppets at 18, was working in Europe by his mid-20s, won his first Emmy before...
Jim: Thank you, Ed, I had a marvelous time. And I think I can speak for the others when I say we all had a marvelous time.
Jerry: (massaging the lump on his head, where Richard's pillow hit him) Well, you'll have to speak for the others, since I don't think they'll be getting up anytime soon...
Very true. And Steve Whitmire commented that, when Richard held his going-away party, he was trying to have the last word.
After all, that article you posted said, "Richard valiantly continued to live, to inspire and to perform throughout his lengthy battle with AIDS."
I might have said...
(next morning)
Nora: Swell party...(droops over at table)
Beige: A little too much pineapple punch?
Nora: (hiccup) Yes.
Storyteller: All right, so who'd you dance with?
Erin: I took a few spins around the floor with...let's see...well, Scooter and Beige here...along with Richard, and Bruce...
Erin: Who wants more punch? Ed's got a really excellent bowl of Caribbean Cooler up there.
(chorus of "I do!")
Storyteller: So then, I tell him, "look pal, if you're going to..."
(shriek overhead)
Scooter: What the...
Nora: Look!
(Someone has set off a group of flying silver sparklers, which...
Oh, I'll bet he did wonder. And you remember how we once had a discussion on "That Lonesome Road" by James Taylor, and why Richard chose that for his going-away party?
We mentioned that Richard must have been feeling kind of blue...but around the time of Jim's memorial...well, we weren't there...
(all return to table)
Nora: That was a lot of fun...but I'm getting thirsty again.
Scooter: Come on, let's hit the buffet.
(gang heads off to load up on cake, punch and other edibles)
Erin: (biting into a piece of cake) Mmm...if anyone leaves here hungry it's their own fault.
Storyteller: Try...
