"Stewards of Creation" is a more recent hymn - it's to remind people that "the Earth is ours, to use and not abuse." We often sing it close to Earth Day.
Of course Richard had a case of the nerves: he was speaking before a packed audience in one of the most famous cathedrals in the U.S. Not...
I know - and I found myself reflecting on a few hymns we frequently use during Mass - some of the favorites like "On Eagle's Wings," "How Great Thou Art," "Stewards of Creation," that sort of thing. And his line, "Let us all have mercy on each and every one of us." There you've got a reference...
That would be a really good idea. I mean, the speech really does show off his spiritual/religious side, as he's up on the stage, talking about finding solace in God and nature, so that would be very appropriate in a church setting.
And you know, I like to read the transcript I made of those...
(a stereo somewhere starts to play 'Blessed,' by Elton John)
Storyteller: Oooh...Beige, get up and come dance with me.
Beige: B-but I've got two left feet.
Storyteller: (snort) Oh, come on, all Fraggles pick it up pretty soon. (the two head out to an open space in between the tables)
Scooter...
(room 7 has just arrived at their table - all are in evening wear: Erin - dark blue silk dress; Nora: purple and silver satin dress; Storyteller: shocking pink organdy with green sash dress; Scooter: dark green suit, bright orange tie; Beige: dark gray suit, bright blue tie)
Nora: So did you...
(up in heaven)
Jim: My...the town looks very nice tonight.
(behind him, Richard, Christine and Don are sneaking up with a large bucket of confetti - a stash left over from other fetes)
Richard: (sotto voce) All right. Three...two...one...(they all dump it on Jim)
Jim: Wha...What the hey...
Erin: (looking at watch) All right, everyone, let's get going.
(group gathers up platters of cheesecakes and biscotti, and bowl of punch, along with two sets of wind chimes for the back garden - the group gift for the festivities)
(chuckle) Of course he'd be flattered...then again, he might also think we've all gone completely off the deep end.
But I mean...imagine being a fan who's sent a letter of appreciation to one of your heroes - and then getting a warm, appreciative phone call back. That would be an awesome...
Storyteller: (returning through Fraggle hole) Of course, we'll all be there, assuming that people can tear themselves away from their assorted jobs and extracurriculars for five seconds at least...(turns to look at stacked trays and bowls of edibles for the party) What the...all right, who ate...
That was me. I dreamed that the Muppet crew had gathered in some large old house in the country (probably somewhere in Connecticut) for the weekend, in order to brainstorm ideas for a new show.
And yes, one of the new characters was a puddle of water in a sink, played by Dave. And in the...
Happy birthday, Steve!
And it is very interesting that he shares his natal day with the man who created Kermit, Waldorf and Ernie. (and ten million other Muppets besides)
Oh, good grief...yeah, especially some of the ones Sara logged in. These days, it seems, we've evened out a bit. (if that's even an option, of course)
But honestly, it's just one of the side effects of having Muppet performers on the brain.
Richard: That's impossible.
Erin: What's...
(some time later)
Erin: Careful, careful...these are hot.
Storyteller: Good grief, those smell good.
Beige: Please, don't drool in the punch.
(chorus of grossed-out remarks)
Erin: (putting some of the miniature cheesecakes onto a serving plate) Scooter, you want to take these over to Beth...
It was a little hard to tell - I mean, I was seeing him from the side and he was walking away. But the build, hair color and clothes suggested that it was he.
Also, my dreams usually have ten million incomprehensible things going on in them - but then, don't the Muppet shows and movies have ten...
And you know, seeing as all the menu items were named after Muppets, perhaps the Muppet crew would have been regulars there.
And I could have sworn that I saw Richard passing by in that same dream, but my memory's a tad hazy.
(in kitchen, the occupants are prepping some of their contributions to tomorrow's festivities - individual chocolate mint cheesecakes, pineapple-kiwi punch and a batch of almond-pistachio biscotti)
Erin: (over the roar of the mixer) How's the crust coming along? Scooter, give me a status...
Nora: (on phone) Oh, hi, Count...yes, we heard...you need people to help start decorating? (scribbles something on notepad) Okay, I'll tell the others.
Erin: (entering kitchen) Who was it?
Nora: (hanging up) The Count. He and Uncle Deadly are trying to get people to help decorate for Jim's...
That's perfectly okay. I read somewhere that nightmares are just the body's way of reacting to stress and anxiety. I mean, I was under some stress this past week, and I remember having some unpleasant dreams as a result.
But it seems that talking to people helps - so talk to us as much as you...
