Don't be afraid to make mistakes. The extra dotted area is probably the seam allowance. You'll cut it out that size, sew it on the solid line, then turn the whole think inside out.
125% of 6.5 is 8.125 inches. 150% is 9.75 inches. You must have a decimal point in the wrong place.
Here's how I'd figure it out. Take the mouth pattern and see how your hand fits from the tip of your middle finger to where it would meet the palm of your hand. Adjust the size of the mouth...
One thing you have to remember is that the original Kermit puppets were tailor-made to fit Henson's giant hand. So, if your hand is smaller or if you wanted to use it for display, it's not going to look like Kermit. It'll look like some kind of flattened lizard.
There are two ways to make him...
Just looking at it, as well as the puppet, I'd say it's pretty accurate if you scale it up about 125-150% and elongate the neck. After the pieces are sewn together you should be able to figure out how long the neck's supposed to be based on reference pictures.
I have a really small hand and I...
You know, instead of complaining about how they conducted the auditions, why not get a puppet and a monitor and learn how to puppeteer? Even if they never have another audition, at least you'll decided if it's something you want to do.
You might even have fun.
Well, one thing I've noticed is that once you make the decision to hide the arm rods, you often end up giving up a lot of the spontaneity effect. Now, to me, I'd rather have a very real, spontaneous puppet performance, than a kind of fake, reality performance. I mean, everybody knows it's a puppet.
I think there was a lot of care put into shot-by-shot how they worked the Muppets in the first three movies. I don;t think I've ever seen the rods in those films, and I had versions dating back to the 80s on some of those video releases, leading me to believe that they weren't painted out...
I was wondering if anyone is distracted when they see arm rods? They don't bother me in the least bit, but it seems like a lot of people are obsessed with either hiding them or painting them out.
I think a decent puppeteer (or decent cameraman) can make them work without painting them out or...
Y'know, the other thing that was said at MuppetFest is something that we all should take to heart. The Muppets shouldn't be the end-all be-all goal for all of us. There are other games in town, whether they be other puppet troupes or starting up your own projects. It's enough that all of us were...
For awhile. I'm building up my puppet skills (and those of the other Melonpool puppeteers) for a direct-to-video DVD project I want to do, based on an old graphic novel I never finished. These puppets will serve as the prototypes for the next batch for the film, so I want to test them out so I...
Thanks!
I'll have to say, I've learned a lot so far from watching the videos we've been shooting lately... like that Mayberry's focus is actually higher than I thought it was... and the mics are a necessity in a situation like this.
But, all in all, I can see some improvement... especially...
I'm a little confused, though... Do you think they sell the fleece dyed or do I have to buy the fleece, ship it to them, have them dye it, then have it shipped back?
If it's the lattter, maybe it's time I learned how to dye fleece, huh?

I tend to use three ovals and one "figure 8" shaped piece. And they're not really ovals or 8s, they have flat tops and bottoms that create the neck and bottom openings. The figure 8 piece goes on the back and creates a butt by curving out on the lower half and inward on the upper half to create...
I looked for about an hour for the post about the company that pre-dyed Antron Fleece, but couldn't find it. Does anyone remember where the link was?

I'll be in New York this weekend shooting stuff with the Mayberry puppet at the convention. If anyone's in the area and wants to come by, I'll be exhibiting at Booth #177.

That was great! I like that commercial a lot better now, I was convinced a great part of it was CGI. Glad it was relatively old school puppetry. I always get suspicious when I see legs in just about every shot.

I remember The New Zoo Revue taking up a good chunk of my time as a kid. I don't remember if it was any good or not. That might have been the source of my attraction to girls in go-go boots, however. Ah... Emmy Jo...
I'm well on my way to doing mine, too. If I can locate someone in NY to shoot video at the New York Comic Convention this weekend, I should have some "Man on the Street" interviews by next week.

Thanks for the comments, guys. I know my puppetry needs work, and I'll try to do better next time.
The actual question, though was about content. We actually did three camera tests: The first and third are on the site already, The second was a Kanye West song that had him saying the "N" word a...
