After watching and interacting with Greg the Bunny and seeing the MR Kermit the Frog, I'm beginning to think scaling down my puppets from their current 10-12 inch tall heads to a more manageable 7-9 inch head might be in the foreseeable future.
The benefits I can see range from being able to...
I have one of those Iago puppets from the Disney Store. Want me to take some reference pics for you? I'm not willing to part with it, though. Plus, it's very hard to manipulate (the mouth is made of hard rubber and barely moves).

Was there a point early-on where the larger character passed through the smaller one? Other than that, I was completely unaware that you used greenscreening. It looked like set pieces (which is a good thing)!
I also thought it was very reminiscent of the old Scorch bits as well as some of the...
First off, you have to think about the materials you use... Foam and any other man-made materials give off toxic gasses when burned. Also, a lot of materials like polyester turn to a hard plastic once heat is introduced -- which adheres to skin instantaneously.
The problem with setting a...
I've been working hard for the last nine weeks on those puppet video podcasts over at www.quickstopentertainment.com. Mostly, we've been doing interviews, but this week we did our first scripted set piece. Hope you enjoy it. And look for the cameos at the end...
Thanks guys -- I know that a bit of the puppetry is a tad shaky in this segment, but it'll get better. This thing had to be thrown together from about an hour's worth of sound test footage rathe quickly. It's fun to see them interacting with kids, though.

My thought was to machine sew some of it (along the scalp and behind the eyes) and hand sew other, more exposed areas (jaw, nose, fingers). That way I can take advantage of both the time-saving aspects of machine sewing as well as the cleaner look of hand sewing.
One nice thing about the...
So, I made the biggest leap of my puppet-making career and decided to make the next batch of comics out of Antron Fleece. I imagine that along with learning to dye the material, I'll have to switch from machine sewing to hand sewing just about all of it.
Is there anything else I should look...
A lot of you don't realize that the camera often distorts the way that puppets look in the pictures, especially when you do close up shots. They may look a lot closer in person than they do in these pictures.
I just remembered what I used to use on Crow... bike cables!
Instead of using the real cable, though, I'd just use the outside and feed a thin wire all the way down. Once it was through, it was a simple matter to use it as a long thread to feed a piece of string theough there.
This might work...
I'm curious about this diagram. I'm not sure on what it's supposed to illustrate, since the triangle doesn't seem to match up to any specific points on the face. I always thought that the "Magic Triangle" was the placement of the two pupils and the nose (each one being a point on the triangle)...
