I keep forgetting you guys dont get it for awhile. Id say you could probably get a screener since youre in the 'biz', tho you really got to lose your virginity in the theater. My experience was slightly ruined by a screaming kid running around the whole time, so im all the more eager to see it...
What did you think of Tron Legacy? I thought, save for some of the lack of urgency toward the end and some of the dialogue it was visionary. In fact not since Matrix Reloaded had I felt that excited and rewarded to see a sci fi film. Very rarely in cinema do I feel something rises to that level...
Forgot to mention...
KRISTEN SCHAAL!!!
Seriously, she has to be the cutest and awesomest actress I've ever seen(sorry Zooey) In interviews she just has the warmed, fun kind of personality I wish more people had.
That's kind of eerie, as that is pretty much my *exact* same favorite moments...
Which, pushes and celebrates the bad contemporary memes and body/mental attitudes too many young girls fall into in America. Being spoiled, cold acting young women, only thinking beefcake bad boys are attractive, the blurring of good and evil.
I mean as much as I dislike the current crop of kids...
Heh...I kind of like the no swearing rule...forces us to be creative. Frelling heck!
But the ONLY positive thing about Twilight: its getting people(mostly younger girls) to read. And thats good. The advent of reading for fun seems to be a dying past time.
Unlike Harry Potter, there doesnt seem...
Other than the plushes and FAO puppets, do you really think that stuff is worthy of excitement? I mean, snuggies? I respect the completist thing...but honestly, dont you feel in the early to mid zeroes we got some truly exciting merchandise? I dont have much money, but Id gladly open my wallet...
Oh I hate Cars. I realize the braintrust at Pixar realized they needed to appeal to the Southern Nascar demographic, and that's fine. But it's not my bag, just like Im sure many people didnt "get" Up(I consider Up my favorite Pixar film) And next year they're releasing a sidequel spinoff called...
Other than the Muppet plushes at Disney store, I still dont see any proof of there being hardly any noteworthy merchandise. All the misc stuff out there is what we'd have in any given year. Rubber bands shaped like Muppets...exciting:) Im not trying to be a gloomy gus, but its holiday season...
Well...there was a screaming kid running around the ENTIRE movie next to me(good thing I have perfected my zen like focus)...and as I mentioned in the main movie thread, I had to walk a few miles and back. But I think of how nomadic Mongolian people trek through harsh winters with nothing but...
I saw a great image recently that showed four pictures: mass transit in China, Germany, and other countries...then it showed America with a ghetto looking Greyhound bus.
I think America deserves to be a laughing stock. We have no real modern mass transit by ground. China, an oppressive country...
Hmm, well youve convinced me as I trust a lot of your reviews. Even if it doesnt come close to the joy MvA brought me, it sounds good. Wish I woulda seen it on the big screen. How was despicable me? As you can tell, I dont see many of these cgi movies.
I like Madacascar too, but man...what the...
I wonder if each toy was specifically based on past toys? I got the Kung Fu Panda and Mcchangeables reference, as well as mid 90's regional fast food chain stuff. The toys looked so real and crisp, Pixar is really on top of their game as every second was a joy to watch. If only I was enthused...
Well I hate to make disparaging remarks about their work, as I personally think virtually all of the builds in the film are amazing to behold. It's just I found it distracting every time Fozzie was on and seeing his shiny odd fur and new head sculpt, same with Gonzo's new face sculpt/eye...
Well it so far has the best reviews of any film next to Midnight In Paris(my personal favorite film of the year), its on track to come in second to Twilight(barf) this weekend, and judging by the audiences coming out of my local show....people from 2 to 80 are grinning ear to ear. I think...
WHOAHHH...its holding at 97%....thats insane. Hugo is also 97%. Im seeing it tomorrow night, as I think it could be the surreal imaginative film Ive been waiting for since Mirrormask.
But you know why the Muppets is getting insane acclaim with critics who normally hate kids movies? Because it...
I have nothing but utter contempt and loathing for Twilight. A series that glamourizes the worst memes and attitudes of our broken society. But you know, at my theatre(I live in yuppy soccer mom suburbia...as much as I woulda liked to see the movie at a hipster/bohemian college crowd place)...
You and me both! For most my life my birthdays, halloween, valentines, etc have been spent by myself. Ive rarely gotten to date, been stood up a few times...so I got the whole diner scene by herself. Hardly had any friends in k-12 and college. So I could relate to how Walter felt kind of alone..I...
Yes, "meta". People forget there are two canons. The real canon, where you have to assume the Muppets are "real"(as they are treated on Leno, Fallon, SNL, ESPN, etc)
and merely actors.
Then a "loose canon" that draws from TMS, the movies, etc and mixes and matches it when convenient. This is a...
Well we're on a similar page. Im kind of coming from this film from a different angle than a lot of people...the trailers showed this goofy slapsticky film. Sure theres that, but theres also a devastatingly, deep emotional and important film in there. But more and more Im feeling like it's like...
I thought that was Joanna Newsom?(credited in the song production I think?)
Yeah the rainbow connection, Kermit's final speech/walk out at the end, the opening intro and Paris night time conversation were some of my favorite parts. Also the part with Camilla speaking.
I wasnt ready for it...
