Jim Henson Idea Man
Remember the life. Honor the legacy. Inspire your soul. The new Jim Henson documentary "Idea Man" is now streaming exclusively on Disney+.
Bear arrives on Disney+ The beloved series has been off the air for the past 15 years. Now all four seasons are finally available for a whole new generation.
There's probably a few similar things, but I think in the interest of keeping things fresh, they'd display different things than the traveling exhibit.
Keep in mind, like what anniversaries are worth celebrating? Like, can you blame them for not doing that big a whooplah for season 45? Like, what's so special about that compared to 44 or 46?
50 is a big number. Half a century. There's no way they're going to let that slide without doing...
Disney does plenty of 2D outside of the film scene.
"They were 2D, that's why they did poorly" also seems like an easy excuse. They could be chalked up to poor release timing, but like, Home on the Range didn't underperform because it wasn't CG; it just sucks and people could tell.
I have no doubt they're doing to something extra special for their 50th. Don't forget, it's the entire organization's 50th anniversary, not just the show.
Like, I get it. Jim, Frank and everyone were busy with the Muppet Show and movie and stuff. But, were they so strapped for material that they made five of these things, at least? I don't even get their purpose. "Stick a bunch of Muppets on there and have they play some music."
Imma chalk that up to "We heard the German version first, which sounds cool, so our perception is skewed toward that." The English still sounds good though.
Skimmed through the story, so don't know what was cut. Some thoughts:
-Use of random bear instead of, say, Baby Bear. I guess since Baby Bear lives in a cottage, he can't speak about habitats.
-Nice to see a variant on the Number of the Day song with 0 cookies.
-I'm sure kids won't notice...
I'm sure they planned it as usual when it was just TP and the Mindset reporting it. And then it turned into this whole big thing, so I can see why they'd be weary. But they can't hold off forever.
And oh the irony of the only one of these videos actually worth looking forward to is delayed.
When Tony Geiss passes away, his family (I assume) donated a bunch of his personal Sesame tapes to some university (maybe his alma matter). Their online library has video previews of each tape and that's where all these clips and such have come from.
I actually just went through all of their podcasts and videos, so I'm looking forward to this. Their live streams are great.
(I'd also recommend Mark Gale's first appearance on the Getting Felt Up podcast. God, that was hysterical).
I snook a peak at one of the newer articles about the situation and an anonymous source said that Steve was fired from SS as well, but for financial reasons (he wanted more money).
