Believe me when I say I'm no Emmet Otter purist or anything - I never saw it until my early teens and even though it's visually great and the music is nice, I don't love it the way I love Jim's other stuff (mainly because it's not that funny). So, there's no "childhood ruined" aspect for me...
I have it on good authority that there's an episode involving Biff and Sully this season (beyond just non-speaking cameos. Well, non-speaking for Biff anyhow).
I honestly don't think he was actively thinking "Oh, I have to make sure such-and-such character is included." It was probably moreso, "Hey, 'Shapes in My Room' is a great song! Put that on there!"

So, the blanked out space in HBO's Nov. 10th schedule is now an episode of Axios. The Saturday Nov. 9th schedule has a blanked-out space at 7:00pm, but a movie comes on at 7:45, and this special is at least 50-something minutes. So something might change...
