Yes this is great news. Will be so much fun seeing 4 discs worth of all those half hour classic "Electric Company" shows. Just 6 months from now!
And I'm really excited about getting the first season of "The Muppet Show" pretty soon.
For a long time I've enjoyed getting people with this one:
"I just bought a pretty cool henway at the store."
"You bought a what?"
"A henway."
"What's a henway?"
"About ten pounds."
On an even cornier note, when people ask me, "What's new?", I'll sometimes reply, "New York, New Jersey...
I'm thinking about the puzzle segments where a piece at a time would appear on the screen with some cool sound effects. Then after five would appear, they would be shuffled around until they were in the proper places. Then the sixth and final piece would appear and the puzzle was complete. And...
In similar fashion, I was just thinking of the skit where Simon wants a saw and keeps being given the wrong tools, like a hammer. ("I don't want a bang bang bang, I want a zshh zshh zshh zshh zshh!")
Then of course there's the "bock bock bock bock BOCK" sandwich with Grover. And the one where...
Just watched a thrilling comeback by my Yankees against the Angels. They were down 7-3 and won 8-7. Woohoo! It was the Fox game of the week this afternoon. The Yankees didn't really comeback as much as the Angel relief pitcher (Francisco Rodríguez) threw the game away. He's normally outstanding...
Wow haha I don't recall that ending at all. :)
I remember as a small child thinking, "Hey Kermit, you're already half way over, why don't you just keep crossing over, cuz either way you'll still be walking!" Yet another very fun skit for kids (and adults! I remember my dad getting a kick out...
Here's an old favorite. Fun to use the person you're telling it to as the third person in the joke. I'll insert myself as the fall guy in this one.
There was a cave in a secluded area where a lot of pigs dwelled. One day a man happened to hike over near the cave and out of curiosity decided...
Play it again Sam?
There was one later alphabet segment I saw once around the mid to late 80's. A blue muppet was at a piano and he went through the alphabet as he played. Then someone told him to play it again (so maybe this was a loose parody of "Play it again Sam?"). He played it again and...
And I'm pretty sure it was Kermit in a walk/don't walk segment. Back in the 70's when the white walk lights and red don't walk lights at street corners were more prevalent, Kermit was demonstrating how to cross the street by waiting when the red don't walk was lit up. And then proceeding to...
A not-too-bad 82 today but the humidiity is pretty bad. I was out in the morning doing a lot of yard work and its the humidiity that made it unpleasant. But good feeling to get all the grass, weeds, plants watered, etc. finished. And good feeling to be inside the airconditioned house the rest of...
(((((((((Kathy))))))))) No shame in crying at all. I cried a lot at the funerals of my grandmothers and my uncle. And the shortest verse of the Bible (John 11:35) says, "Jesus wept" (at the death of his friend Lazarus).
Yes family and friends are such a blessing. Glad you have them in...
Speaking of Hubert, I think that was the name of a pet of The Count's. I remember one skit where after he blows out the candles and it's all dark, he bumps into a chair and then steps on his cat. He tells the cat, "You should be outside playing with Hubert." I think there was at least one other...
Oh yes the ol' uh oh spaghetti-O franco american. Which brings to mind early 70's "All in the Family" when Archie was eating from a can of spaghetti-o's and said, "If I have to eat my dinner cold, I'm gonna eat something American - spaghetti!"
By the way, classic All in the Family never made...
That's correct. And I think later SS shows did a different video background with the same audio of David singing the song (like they did with other songs such as, "Somebody Come and Play" , "Everybody Eats", and "Everybody Sleeps").
That's right his name was something like that; I had forgotten that till you mentioned it. Like you, I'm not sure either whether it was tweak or tweep.
Another cartoon they showed many times on SS was with two guys in the dark trying to find a light switch. We only see their eyes. I remember...
Well it looks like the new "Star Wars" movie is finished at #8 of all time grossing movies at the box office. Pretty impressive how all six Star Wars movies have done:
Star Wars (1977) #2 of all time
The Phantom Menace #5
Revenge of the Sith #8
Attack of the Clones #18
Return of the Jedi...
