Pretty hilarious line, Bear! :)
I always liked both Farley and Professor Hastings and thought it was neat when they'd be on. Part of it is probably because of their limited use (the ol' absence makes the heart grow fonder principle). But Jerry Nelson's voice for Farley and his likable...
I remember one from the early 70's with Grover and Susan. Susan sang a song and encouraged Grover to sing it along with her. Some of the words were, "Smile and say, glad to meet you. Hope you are well. Happy you're here." At the end of the segment, Susan kisses Grover and Grover says, "Oh" in an...
I really loved "Follow That Bird" a lot too. I saw it back when it came out in '85 and then taped it off HBO and watched it again and then again a few years later, but haven't seen it since then. It's one of my older movies that I've been meaning to rewatch for a long time now.
There was a cartoon with two guys, one who was on the rather slow and dumb side, where the dumb guy ate something. I think it was a letter of the alphabet. The other guy says something like, "What did you do with that letter t?" The dumb guy says, "I ate it for lunch." The other guy says, "Well...
This was from the cover of an old Mutt and Jeff comic book I had, but let's substitute Ernie and Bert once again for fun, and because I could see Ernie doing this:
Bert: Why are you standing in front of the mirror with your eyes closed? :(
Ernie: I want to see how I look when I'm asleep. :p
Here's a weird story of a statue of Big Bird being ordered to be taken off someone's chimney in Wisconsin. Maybe MuppetsRule has seen this. I don't understand why some neighbors or the local authorities have a problem with Big Bird on someone's private property...
Well it was awful again today, of course, but some unexpected rain and cloudiness late this afternoon has cooled things down just a tad. More rain tomorrow afternoon and evening will be followed by a "cold front" (Yeah right!) which will bring us 85-90 over the weekend instead of the 90-95 we've...
Hey that's terrific Xerus and Sesame Mike! And then after s he might say, "Wow S was fun! So many things new. I wonder what would happen if I planted a Q!" (And like the land of S, Jack would again be greeted by a lady - a queen. :) ).
More of the same once again today. The typical 4 H's: Hazy Hot Humid and Horrible! Tomorrow will be the same but one degree higher (96 instead of 95) and a little better but still hot Friday and beyond. Well, at least I put in for a week's vacation in September instead of July or August so...
"Here's fork ... Here's FORK!"
This skit also had Bert say to Ernie, "Don't you think this story is just a bit farfetched, just a bit?" I'll bet a lot of kids didn't yet know what the word farfetched meant. I didn't. I was only about 3 though. :)
Also, remember the one where Bert puts...
I remember one time Grover said, "Kowabunga!". It was the sketch where Grover runs through the painting of that elderly lady muppet.
Edit: I just noticed the way I have this worded it looks like the painting is of a lady muppet! The painting is of a doorway. The painting is OWNED by an...
Back to Abbott and Costello briefly. I love jokes involving puns and they had a lot of them. Some were hilarious and clever while others were real groaners.
Here's an example of ones that fit those two categories in my opinion:
Good one:
Abbott: Some day you'll find your niche in life...
Yeah I think Mickey Moose has it right that it was the skit where Ernie eats Bert's cake that had Beautiful Day Monster but CM was the one who dressed like Ernie. The skit with the cake was older too, probably 1969 or 1970. But the cookies one I think was a little later. Ernie and Bert had a...
I think 5 is about the fewest I have ever experienced. I think it would be pretty cool if one of these days I find I have the whole place to myself for a few minutes. :D
Big Kudos for your double grand point! I look forward to your next 2000. You complimented someone recently for having well-crafted posts. Dittos for you.
One of my favorite sitcoms of all time, "The Honeymooners", had a lot of funny and clever jokes busting on Ralph Kramden (Jackie Gleason) for his weight. Here's a sampling:
Ralph: Did you ever see a picture of me when I was 175 pounds?
Ed: No Ralph, I never did see any of your baby...
For fans of "The Jeffersons" like myself, the complete fourth season is out on dvd in just 2 months! This is especially great news because the third season was just released in April. A good sign that sales will be hot enough of this series for them to end up releasing all ten seasons. Hoping...
Yes that's it. In the skit, Bert thinks Ernie took his cookies but Ernie is innocent this time. Cookie Monster fooled Bert by wearing a shirt like Ernie's, wearing a tuft of short black hair like Ernie's, and laughing keeheehee like Ernie. When Cookie then comes on the scene again dressed and...
