Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
I've seen "Muppets on Puppets", "Valentine Show", "Sex & Violence", "The Muppets Go Hollywood," "The Muppets Go to the Movies," "A Muppet Family Christmas," and the Studio DC specials. I love them all, well most of them, for different reasons.
MOP: A fun behind-the-scenes look at the early...
The last time I actually saw Herry on an episode of SS was the episode where the Count was watching Hooper's Store and ended up causing trouble for Chris. Herry was in a crowd, so no one could hear what he was saying. He was basically serving as an extra. Jerry Nelson hadn't performed him since...
So Muppeteer Martin Robinson (the man inside Snuffy & under Telly) coined this term for the obscure SS characters that never caught on with audiences or were removed from the show after a while (Sam the Robot, Kingston Livingston III, Rodeo Rosie, Salesman, Nobel Price, Monty, and so on). This...
I know exactly how you feel. But for me, I am studying music as my major. So that means learning tons of music for concerts (I have three this week) and for my final jury performance...in addition to my academic classes which involve lots of writing, reading and memorization. It's a cr**load of...
Back in October, before I joined MC, I thought I was dealing with depression. I had just started college and I felt I wasn't getting anywhere, academically or socially. I felt so alone and wanted to die. So I spoke to my professors and family, and they made me feel better about myself...
S: Well did you like that number?
W: Speak up!
S: I said, did you like that number?
W: I liked what I heard!
S: What did you hear?
W: "Did you like that number?"
S: Ugh!
:sing:: One year groovier? Couldn't have said it better myself, man!
:halo:: CAKE! CAKE! CAKE!
: Meep mee mee mo mo meep!
: It's your birthday? What a brilliant discovery I've made!
:hungry:: Yöömmy cäkee! Børk børk børk!
:concern:: Another year older? Another year BOLDER...
Yes! That would be great. Seeing Annie Sue, Fozzie, Link & Scooter in the RS would be cool, but I think they could do a remake of RS with Rizzo and/or Pepe as well. Beauregard would make it quite funny, too.
It would be cool to see more viral videos with characters like the Electric Mayhem, Sam...
Bert & Ernie looks pretty scary already, but Kermit looks like he got flattened by a steamroller a few times over. And that "Foozy" doll is even worse. Looks like he was put on a barbecue or something...
Any idea who Rotten DeNiro would be played by? A human guest star or a Muppet? Which season would this episode be from?
And this is just my opinion, but I think the episode could use more Muppet segments in between each scene. But other than that, it's very original. I like it!
:sing:: Yeah! Unlike the pig. Hahahahahahah!!!
(Then  comes in and swiftly karate-chops Floyd to the floor.)
Sorry...that's just Floyd speaking on my behalf.
I was a child of the late 90s, so I grew up with SS right after ATC came to an end. There were early signs of the radical change that was to come, such as the Tickle Me Elmo craze and those quick bits where a Muppet would introduce a segment, like Ernie & Rubber Duckie announcing the letter of...
Ah, yes. The crush that lasted for only about two episodes.
Wait...I completely missed the "Fozzy" goof-up. A big "Tsk, tsk" to the company that misspelled his name.
Why is Dr. Teeth's skin BROWN? Isn't it weird that Gonzo is the one dreaming about Miss Piggy? Say, why didn't Miss Piggy get her own sticker?
And Sweetums...oh my god... (shudders)
What really strikes me is that Bernadette Peters first sang "Just One Person" to Robin on The Muppet Show in 1977, then thirteen years later, Robin was the one leading the Muppets in the same exact song for the tribute special. It makes me think of how much Robin absorbs as a precocious frog...
