Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
I have nothing good to say about our American fast food obsession. Not even the film "Super Size Me" could keep people away from it, as the obesity epidemic is still getting out of hand. And nearly everyone is guilty of contributing to the fast-food craze. It's just sad.
I would like to change...
Welcome to all our new members!
"I Think That It Is Wonderful" that we're getting so many new people here on this forum. There's so much to do & to talk about. Have fun! And a special SS clip for everyone to enjoy:
I agree with mupcollector1. I forgot to mention this earlier, but I loved how kind and patient Jim was with his entire staff, and how they all had a great time together. One great story I read was when Jim was watching a Muppet skit being filmed on Sesame Street when one puppeteer took a wrong...
I was born after Jim's death, but I read a lot of biographies about him, and I got the sense that he was one of the most incredible human beings to walk the Earth. Thank you Jim Henson, for blessing the lives of millions of people with your characters and TV shows. They are still carrying on...
YMBAOMF if...
you have seen every Sesame Street Live production since 1980
you refuse to buy African berry bushes
you want to see the Avocado return in the new Muppets movie (hopefully, it won't be the pits!)
you prefer Paul Williams' MS version of "Old Fashioned Love Song" over Three Dog...
Also, there were two skits I remember where Animal & Gonzo interacted, but I don't remember the episodes:
Gonzo is singing "Pop Goes the Weasel" with a so-called surprise ending, but Animal runs onstage before the song is over and ruins the act by popping the balloon behind Gonzo's back. Gonzo...
The same thing applies to the Sesame Street Muppeteers in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Imagine Caroll, Kevin, Leslie, Marty, Carmen, and a bunch of other lesser-known/apprentice puppeteers squeezed into that SS float for over three hours with their hands above their heads. Kevin even...
It seems like Mando will be a great fit on the Street. He's got the voice, charm, looks, and ability to connect to the audience. I bet he'll be part of the next generation of SS adults with Chris and Leela (and maybe Alan and Gina too), whenever Bob, Gordon, Susan, Maria, and Luis depart.
Correction: I don't think he was in "Prairie's Problem." I know for sure that he was in the Mystery Guest Game where he was blindfolded along with Sherlock Hemlock and Cookie Monster, and they had to guess who the mystery guest was. It was the letter X. And to confirm, Herry's voice was based...
I'm sorry, I didn't know that. But those threads are much older. My intention is for this thread to be an appreciation thread, compared to the "WLIIA is coming back" thread and others that give announcements about the show.
Don't forget the "Arctic Tern" bit in one of the Greatest Hits segments. Ryan broke down here too.
Ryan: What bird makes the sound of our next band?
Colin: Uhhh...a tern? An arctic tern?
Ryan: Oh? What sound does an arctic tern make?
(Colin pauses)
Colin (in a squawky voice): BACKSTREET BOYS...
Greg Proops is VERY funny. I especially loved his take on G.W. Bush and his infamous Dominatrix scene in Weird Newscasters. The Whoopi episode was really hilarious too. I think that Wayne had the most fun with her.
I forgot to mention Chip Esten and his Snagglepuss impersonation. Dead on. He's...
You know, it's that comedy improvisation show where "everything is made up and the points don't matter." Drew Carey hosts and Colin Mochrie, Ryan Stiles, and Wayne Brady are the stars. I just discovered this show this year...and I am hooked.
Anyone else on this forum like this show? What are...
Not to mention that the videos for "Body Language" and "I Want to Break Free" were not well received in the US. The former was really racy & sensual, & the latter showed the band members in drag. I suppose it was an attempt to stay with the times, as you said, and make lots of music videos that...
I LOVE QUEEN. I actually prefer their earlier material, but "Radio Gaga" is a really good tune. Plus that black-and-white footage from the film "Metropolis" is awesome.
Fun fact: Lady Gaga came up with her stage name based on this song.
