Sam and Friends Book Read our review of the long-awaited book, "Sam and Friends - The Story of Jim Henson's First Television Show" by Muppet Historian Craig Shemin.
I don’t have much of an opinion yet, but it’s interesting you mention the difference in the human cast now as opposed to the previous neighbors that have lived on the street. After having (finally) watched the 50th anniversary special, you can really see it. All of the cameo moments from Bob...
I have that book version of TWas the Night Before Christmas on Sesame Street. I loved the old books that incorporated the human cast so much.
Big Bird: Speaking of which, you promised you’d read it this year.
Ernie: yeah, Rubber Duckie already has visions of SugarDucks swimming in his wee...
I’ve been seeing Cookie at a lot of the events/appearances lately though. So I don’t feel like it was that big a deal. Grover I have not seen at many of these lately. So I found it nice to have had him there.
(Big Bird is sitting outside on a bench, beak down giving a little sigh)
Bryan: You okay, Big Bird...?
Big Bird: ...
Bryan: Us too. (Gives him a gentle rub on his feathery neck)
(Bert, Ernie, Prairie, Count, and Grover all gather round for a group hug. Oscar is nearby looking gently...
Bert: These cookies are really terrific!
Bryan: You still have some left?
Bert: sure!
Ernie: Who do ya think you’re talking to? The Cookie Monster?? Khehehe!!
Bert: (laughs)
Bryan: Speaking of cookies...we should start thinking about what to bake to share with everyone for thanksgiving.
Yeah, Zoe was the it girl until Abby came along and she kinda got kicked to the curb. But Prairie wasnt seen quite as often either, which makes me wonder if part of it had to do with Fran wanting to slow down a little. Zoe is a great character!
Actually, it seems like the only character...
Julia is a recent addition that represents a child with Autism. She's been seen in a lot of marketting stuff even though I don't think she's appeared in that many episodes. I imagine she'll be used more, but she seems to be pretty big right now for the show.
Telly is more classic though. He has more "seniority" if you will. He's been around a long time. I was really excited to see him there. Same with Herry and Zoe. Although it looks like Zoe is making more frequent appearances again. Actually, this is a pretty perfect set of characters. They...
Oscar: Hey, did you all here the latest Valentine’s Day news?
Big Bird: No, what?
Oscar: The little teen toad next door got his first wart!
Bryan: Oh, dear.
Oscar: Yeah, I’m gonna go congratulate him. Hehehe!
Bryan: Don’t you dare!
I'm thrilled with this idea, personally. I travel a lot making it hard to follow network tv. I have to catch a lot of stuff online or on Netflix now. So, I'm good with it. I just hope that this new show and others will be downloadable and not just for streaming as I sometimes have limitted...
I think had it not been for Stephanie D'Abruzzo, we may not be getting much Prairie now. She was such a logical choice. Also, I'm happy that Prairie is still being used sometimes too. She represents girly girls and yet she is still strong. Boy, is she strong willed. Have you seen the way...
Marty is now the last of the long-time principles. After Spinney retired, I'm hoping Marty sticks around a tad longer. But he has been around a long time.
Telly has been a street story staple for so many years. He is definitely underappreciated though. I think that if Marty hadn't taken...
So far, this sounds like the most absolute lazy repetitive concept I have ever heard from the Muppets. I am usually one of the first to support and "give it a chance", but if the idea of Kermit disbanding the group is true, I will be mad! It won't make sense. The major plot point in MTM was...
I love this song and appreciate that they included all of the major characters of the show, with the exception of Telly. Where's he been? He is not represented enough lately.
