Thanks for the good news, on both fronts; the site works just fine for me. As for Grover, he was my Muppet idol when I was a girl...I guess because he and I both love to hug, hug, hug! :super:
Worst recent seasons I've seen: 36 and 37. Between the "Healthy Habits" preachiness and the otherwise uninspired new material ("It's Time to Play", ugh!)...those two deserve to be locked away where no one can watch them again.
Best I've seen so far: 35 and 38. The 35th anniversary did...
I too feel sad over Big Bird's decline (not to mention the way Bert and Ernie get shown separately most of the time, nowadays). The only reason Cookie Monster remains so high on the list is that he has at least one guaranteed appearance on the show, in the "letter of the day" segments; I'm...
I've been trying to track down a video file of a recent episode (#4148), because it includes a classic Big Bird clip I hadn't seen in over ten years. Unfortunately, the only copies I've been able to locate were part of huge BitTorrent files--multi-episode collections that would literally take...
Technically, Sesame Street "canon" places the street somewhere in New York; the characters have confirmed that detail several times. (Global Grover, for instance, mentions taking NYC roads to come home from his trips.) If they're telling the truth about that detail of their universe, I imagine...
Oddly enough, my parents never minded my watching Sesame Street even when I was a 20-something college student. It was my younger brother who taunted me about "baby shows"; he eventually got me giving up not just Sesame Street, but ALL television for the next eight or nine years.
I always saw Don Music as having trouble handling frustration/impatience, not anger per se; he was a parody of the "temperamental artist" stereotype. In any case, this is a pretty decent fanfic...the idea of anyone wanting to make mistakes on purpose is funny, and so is the idea of Elmo...
It's hard to imagine Big Bird as a clueless bumbler, even after watching a few Season 1 episodes. Good thing the writers scrapped that idea quickly...
P.S. Congratulations on getting the grade you deserved for this paper!
*nods* I know Norwegian when I see/hear it; if that "world's greatest counter" sketch had been in German, I wouldn't have been able to post a comment in the same language. :-)
Well, this nursing home used to have an aide who could pass for Roscoe Orman (bald head, voice, and all). It's a shame the guy wasn't as likable as Gordon, though... *sigh*
As a girl I laughed at the way Ernie could usually trick Bert (especially when Ernie tried to get him involved in a game; Bert would get carried away himself at the end). As a grown woman, though, I'm surprised that their friendship has lasted so long; poor Bert has the patience of a saint...
I dunno about crying, but there are a few Sesame Street songs that make me mist up and say AWWW! when they're on. Some that come to mind:
"If I Were": Kermit revealing just how generous he feels towards his friends, even though he has nothing material to offer, puts a lump in my throat.
"A...
Although I don't have the link in front of me, I've seen a few YouTube clips of Big Bird's appearance on the Muppet Show. Your description of how Big Bird reacted was perfect; search over there and take a look for yourself.
Now I'm worried that they might start complaining about all the old clips fans have posted...and getting a lot of users' accounts pulled in the process.
I can understand your frustration, D'Snowth; trying to stay faithful to a show that changes so rapidly these days must be a pain in the neck! :sympathy: (And I thought fanscripts were hard sometimes...*whew*) Still, being able to show your work to a diehard Sesame fan must make you proud when...
The new theme-song arrangement is more listenable than some versions they've used (*cough*calypso arrangement*cough*), even though it'll never hold a candle to the one old-schoolers grew up with. The collage arrangement is clever, given the literacy theme; it reminds me of those pop-up books...
The Danish version of "Elmo's World" calls the main character Elmer, so Sesame Workshop edited out the name-writing part at the end of the opening theme...sort of. You can still see Elmo's crayon moving in the shape of E-L-M-O, but it doesn't leave a mark on his windowshade.
